Not to mention, any deal now will be the new baseline with any political party in power in the USA in the future. It's not like the first priority a Dem president is going to have is giving back the concessions Canada made to Trump. They aren't getting elected to save Canada.
This is what I want to see.
I think Carney et al in Ottawa think they got elected to make a deal and they worry we'll be mad they can't get a deal. So, they're bending and breaking on all our positions to get one.
No! They got elected to make sure we don't get pushed around!
Wab Kinew: Through this whole trade dispute, which he picked the fight, by the way, all the way up to now, we've been okay with, yeah, we might be sacrificing a little now for the bigger picture.
What changed?
We're giving up our leverage for what in return? His imaginary tariffs are not going to materialize, and then the existing tariffs, which were illegal in the first place, and raising the price of living for Americans and Canadians, he's not going to impact those? His number one political liability?
Call his bluff.
It's more governance by conservative soundbite. Poillievre says "when's the deal?" and gets his caucus parroting that. Suddenly we have to cut any deal to defuse that position. Just like abandoning the carbon tax. Where is the principle? What outcome beyond the noise do we want?
He at least correctly identified that I think he's the dumbest son of a gun on the planet.
But why let that stand in the way of making a video about an issue he clearly doesn't understand and wasting limited taxpayer dollars on culture war stunts like removing bike lanes?
π§ Ben has volunteered for Doug Fordβs bike-lane removal crew.
Forget politics. Forget policy. Just give him a shovel.
Team bike lane or team traffic lane? π
Star exclusive: Former Toronto councillor Mike Layton is launching a political comeback in University-Rosedale, setting up a rare battle between a political heavyweight and the ward's incumbent councillor, Dianne Saxe. #topoli
As Mayor, I have been working to negotiate with the province to find a path forward that keeps every road user safe - pedestrians, cyclists and drivers alike. Disappointing to see a member of Council undermine the City's right to determine its own future and repeatedly side with provincial overreach.

Billy Bishop expansion not going forward is perfect for a certain rich, dumb and belligerent group of people. They can now claim the Libs and lefties are blocking prosperity without having to release an economic impact report to provide evidence for the alleged economic benefits.
Pitch utterly wasteful and idiotic ideas with absolutely no public consultation and no actual plan in place, and when the federal government says "hold on" have a hissy fit about how it's their fault that the wasteful and idiotic thing didn't get built.

NEW: The Ford government with a broadside at the federal government:
βIf Prime Minister Carney and his team want toβ¦ if this is how theyβre going to treat bigger projects, I donβt think youβll get much built.β

"People are trying to divide our society and set some people against others. As the CSD in Berlin, we will not allow this."
The organisers of Berlin Pride say yesterday's attack must not be used "for political ends".

Honestly, conservatives say this shit like they weren't denouncing the LGBTQ community as perverts and degenerates and threats to children and Western civilization literally a month ago because Mark Carney shook hands with a guy in a pup suit.
Conservatives denouncing Muslims in response to the attack on Berlin Pride might ring more true as a protection of the gays if their supporters in the comments weren't calling Carney a weak fag for not being more anti-muslim.
And keep in mind who you are aligning yourself with when you say that anti-immigrant shit. Those people are not our allies and we won't be safer in a world run by anti-immigrant bigots.
It should go without saying from me, but I will say it anyway: using this tragedy to bring forward anti-muslim and anti-immigrant politics is morally repugnant and intellectually stunted.
I'm sick as hell of people, including some gays, waiting around with bated breath every time something terrible happens to our community to jump up and down and say "see? See? I was right to hate immigrants!" with no sense of the danger that an "us vs. then" politics entails.
