Bayelsa West Senatorial Road: Ekeremor-Ndoro road project making so much progress.
There are seven culverts already completed within the first 4 kilometres of the road.
The Government of Assured Prosperity is indeed working.
Today, I celebrate every child on the occasion of the 2026 National Children’s Day, with our commitment to promote their rights, prioritise their welfare, and provide them with quality education.
As a father myself, I fully appreciate the heavy responsibility of raising children with honour, ensuring they uphold discipline and strong moral values.
With the theme: “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child”, our Government of Assured Prosperity has continued to invest massively in programmes and projects that directly impact our teeming youthful population.
We are very deliberate in building the future of the children with our educational innovation including the shift in the secondary curriculum to skills-based studies, which has led to the establishment of science, technical and vocational colleges across the State.
We are progressively building a virile state where every child can access equal opportunities, dream boldly, grow safely, and thrive without discrimination.
As a government, we are very conscious of the fact that children are the pride of this great State. and our nation’s most valuable investment. They truly represent the future.
As we honour them on this special children’s day, may God continue to protect you for a greater future ahead. I say a hearty congratulations to you all!

This morning, in continuation of the primary elections of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), I participated in the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District primaries in my Sampou/Kalama Ward 6, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, to select our candidate for the 2027 election.
Just like the House of Representatives primaries last Saturday across the state, today’s exercise was equally generally peaceful in the three senatorial districts.
The stakeholders in the Central Senatorial district have resolved to return the incumbent Senator, Friday Konbowei Benson, for another term.
Let me appreciate our party faithful and leaders for their understanding and for turning out en masse to participate across the 105 wards.
Working together, the Bayelsa State chapter of APC is poised for victory in all our elections in 2027.
Thank you all!
Today, I had the honour of receiving my Brother-Governor of Taraba State, H.E. Agbu Kefas, alongside his longtime friend, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and other respected leaders and stakeholders at Government House, Yenagoa.
This visit is a strong reminder that beyond politics and differing perspectives, we remain bound by a shared heritage, identity, and deep friendship as a people.
I do appreciate the collaboration between Bayelsa and Taraba states in the collective interest of our people.
I truly welcome this show of solidarity and brotherhood. It is through unity, mutual respect, and continuous engagement that we can preserve our values, strengthen our voice, and secure a better future for our people.
Now more than ever, we must remain committed to fostering peace, collaboration, and inclusiveness across our communities.
Together, we are stronger.
Yesterday, I received an African daughter, the Mayor of Banjul, capital city of The Gambia, Hon. Rohey Malick Lowe, who is here to identify with our progress and development.
Our discussions centred on a cause I hold very dear: empowering women, promoting gender equality, and advancing social justice across our society.
I deeply appreciate her kind words and acknowledgment of our administration’s efforts in creating opportunities for women to thrive and contribute meaningfully to governance.
As I have always maintained, when women are empowered, the entire nation is empowered. Our commitment in Bayelsa State remains firm: to build an inclusive system where women are not just participants, but key drivers of development and progress.
I commend Mayor Lowe for her courage, leadership, and advocacy on the global stage, and I look forward to strengthening collaborations that will further elevate the role of African women in leadership.
While I have received her invitation to attend an upcoming women-focused programme in Banjul, we must strive towards a strong partnership to break barriers, eliminate intimidation in politics, and create a society where every woman has the platform to rise and succeed.
Once again, welcome to the “Glory of all Lands. Nua!
Gov. Diri’s quote on politics and development:
“Politics is not for enemity, politics is for development. Anybody who wants to develop Ijaw land is my friend, my brother. Let’s continue to be together, those who want to separate us can go their way.” - Gov. Douye Diri.
Historic 630m Angiama-Oporoma Bridge! Wow! What a great news!
What an audacious journey….
The completion of the 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma bridge across the famous River Nun, along ongoing Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie road project, is historic; it is a testament to sheer resilience.
Bayelsa State Governor, Sen. Douye Diri, is indeed a landmark governor building legacy projects.
This 630m Angiama-Oporoma bridge is very audacious and the Government of Assured Prosperity delivered it ‘bigly.’
Congratulations to the people of Southern Ijaw and all Bayelsans.
Today in Asaba, Delta State, I joined other leaders and South-South delegates of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, for the Zonal Congress, where we elected our new zonal executive committee members.
Let me appreciate our leader, the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio, my Brother-Governors, members of the National Assembly for the renewed unity among the leaders and the strong resolve of the zone to ensure massive support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR in the 2027 general election.
Great thanks to our host, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for the hospitality.
Once again, I say congratulations to the 8-member Zonal Executive led by its National Vice Chairman, Chief Victor Giadom from Rivers State. Nua!
Congratulations New State Working Committee of Bayelsa APC!
This afternoon, with the affirmation of all leaders, delegates, and stakeholders, our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bayelsa State elected members of the State Working Committee.
The peaceful atmosphere and process that pervaded the entire exercise have further strengthened the bond of unity among members.
Congratulations to our brand new State Chairman, Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba, and other working committee members.
In my brief address, I urged members of the party to remain united and continue to work hard for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also deliver all candidates of APC in the other elective positions.
Thank you all for standing firmly with our Government of Assured Prosperity in the journey towards a greater, united and prosperous Bayelsa. Nua!
Behold, Our New Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe Is Here!
Today marks a historic moment in the political journey of our dear state, with the swearing-in of Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe as our new Deputy Governor, following the demise of Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the immediate past Deputy Governor, last December.
While I took my time to make a replacement for Senator Ewhrudjakpo, the choice of the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Akpe, was guided by the need for continuity, competence, commitment, character and the fear of God.
I feel very happy to observe that the nomination and subsequent inauguration of Dr. Akpe, has enjoyed
wide acceptance, reflecting that we have prayerfully made a good choice of a man with distinguished academic excellence and tested administrative acumen.
Once again, congratulations to the new Deputy Governor, and I urge him to serve with loyalty and an abiding sense of responsibility for the greater good of Bayelsa State.
Let me appreciate Mr. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere and members of the State House of Assembly for your timely approval of the nomination and also the Chief Judge of the State, Honourable Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, for administering the oath of office and allegiance on Dr. Akpe.
I also congratulate and welcome the newly sworn-in Commissioner for the Ministry of Women, Children Affairs, Empowerment and Social Development, Mrs. Joanna Gigi and the eighteen new Permanent Secretaries as active players in the Government of Assured Prosperity.
While I call for the continued support of our people for the current administration, my team and I have resolved to make a difference in governance through legacy projects and programmes across the state.
