@samuel_leeds Go for it @samuel_leeds I constructed a 600 -seater Church for a community. It's more than 20 years now, I can't remember the exact geography, but the fulfilment remains.
I wasn't anywhere near financially stable then, yet I feel rich to this day. "Heavenly treasures" indeed.

Here’s a glimpse into the dynamic conversations that shaped the Philanthropy-Public-Private Roundtable on "Unlocking Domestic Resources to Advance Holistic Development for Sustainability," held earlier today at the Global Fund Offices. Crucial learnings include:
1. Strategic Alignment for Resource Mobilization: The meeting emphasized the importance of aligning philanthropic, public, and private sector strategies to effectively mobilize domestic resources. The discussions underscored that a harmonized approach, where each sector leverages its unique strengths, is crucial for addressing complex socio-economic challenges.
2. Strengthening Financial Ecosystems: One of the critical takeaways from the roundtable was the need to enhance local financial ecosystems to support sustainable development. Participants agreed on the urgency of developing robust financial tools and mechanisms, that can attract and retain domestic capital. The creation of supportive policies and regulatory frameworks was identified as essential to this process, ensuring that local capital markets are resilient and capable of financing long-term development projects.
3. Capacity Building for Sustained Impact: The discussions highlighted the importance of building institutional and human capacity to manage and deploy domestic resources effectively. There was a consensus that ongoing support and training for financial and regulatory institutions are necessary to enhance transparency, accountability, and resource management.
4. Expanding the Definition of Local Resources: The roundtable highlighted that unlocking domestic resources goes beyond financial capital; it requires a comprehensive approach that leverages the full spectrum of local assets. This includes tapping into local human resources, indigenous knowledge, cultural assets, and community networks. Participants emphasized that these non-monetary resources are critical drivers of sustainable development.
By breaking down silos and encouraging cross-sectoral dialogue, stakeholders can create synergies that amplify the effectiveness of development initiatives, crucial for addressing systemic issues and achieving holistic, sustainable outcomes.

As nations strive for economic self-sufficiency, the focus has shifted towards internal capacities and infrastructures that can generate and sustain development from within. This necessitates critically examining the volume and mechanisms of domestic resource mobilization as they currently stand and how they can be optimized for holistic development.
With this in mind, we, in collaboration with @philanthropy_ug, wish to invite you to a public-private-philanthropy roundtable on the 30th of August 2024, from 8-11 AM at the Global Fund Offices, Lumumba Drive, Kampala. Purpose to join as we explore the local economic ecosystems, assess how resources are mobilized and utilized, and identify gaps in practices and policies.
Do you represent a private sector entity, philanthropic organization, or government agency? Your unique perspectives are invaluable to us. Sign up here: https://t.co/V3rOT0uOIH
🌟Efforts towards ecosystem strengthening are front and center as we kick off the "Strategies for Community Mobilization through Participatory Approaches and Local Advocacy" forum at Protea Hotel, Kololo - Kampala. This capacity-strengthening initiative is focused on unlocking domestic resources, fueling the rise of empowered, community-driven change. We're starting strong and setting the stage for revolutionary action!
