Only two more days to go - make sure you're heard, especially if you're from a community that faces systemic inequality. Tell us what we need to do differently so we don't keep repeating the harms of the system.
We’re consulting on our draft equality plan, which covers how we:
➡️ Tackle inequality and poverty
➡️ Celebrate and serve the borough’s diverse communities
➡️ Take action to ensure our workforce is diverse

Wonderful reception of the London LGBT Forums Network & Proud Councils hosted by AM @LeonieC at City Hall.

🎉 For the first time, London local authorities are walking together in a single block in the @PrideInLondon parade, standing in solidarity with each other and the communities they represent - organised by Proud London Councils, the pan-London Forum for LGBT+ staff networks in local authorities. Look out for them in in Section L!
A therapist once told me that the harm of witnessing or experiencing violence is one trauma, and the harm that comes from not being able to talk about what happened is a separate trauma, perhaps more damaging to the psyche. I feel like that’s what many of us are experiencing now.
@HackPeople1st really glad we could come along! Only sad that I couldn't make it myself! Hopefully there'll me other opportunities for me to meet the Speak Up folk later in the year as we look at how you can hold us accountable to the plan.
Really glad we could come along - but sad I couldn't make it! Hopefully I will get to meet the Speak Up folk later in the year when we follow up on the plan.
Hard to say whether the UK government learned nothing from all the problems with Windrush compensation scheme, or whether they used the model they know to be broken quite deliberately.
The Post Office's compensation scheme is designed to minimise payouts. One postmaster received £15.75.
That isn't a typo.
I count nine ways the Post Office's HSS compensation scheme is rigged:
@speakoutsister That's one of the stronger parts of the law; you don't have to *have* the characteristic in order to be protected from discrimination because of it.
I suspect that's not what Badenoch means though.
@speakoutsister I see your point, but there is in the act "discrimination by perception" and "discrimination by association" so if a cis person was discriminated against because they were perceived to have or associated with the characteristic of gender reassignment, they would be protected
I read today that a quarter of working Londoners struggle to feed their families, while donations to food banks have dropped hugely. If you have anything to spare this Christmas, consider a donation to the Hackney Food Network

This guidance like many of this Govts policies is cruel & unworkable - its upsetting to think of how many trans kids will see this come up as news today when in school & feel unsafe.
The “guidance” is non-statutory, I hope schools put their students' needs ahead of Govts hate.
