@EvensongEnjoyer I guess it depends on what you're planning to do with it. They want people to be able to use it freely, but if you're looking to republish or sell then that's trickier. You might try writing the SCLM rather than Church Publishing (sclm at episcopal church dot org)
@scottagunn Oh Scott, I am so incredibly sorry to hear this. (And grateful that I had the privilege of personally experiencing what a truly excellent dog he was.)
(Given how hard it is to write eloquent prose as a committee, I almost think we'd be better off spending $30,000 to just commission someone to do it, and to then give it to a wider and more diverse group like the SCLM to critique and improve rather than writing by committee...)
Re: A127, the only procedurally sensible thing to do on the last day of convention is concur with bishops. But we had a careful conversation on the SCLM and determined that we could do this work with 3 people and no budget (meeting only electronically)...

...so it's actually a bit frustrating to hear "cool....cool. We're thinking 9 people and $30,000 for the first triennium, maybe more next triennium!" as if money and interim bodies grow on trees...
Episcopalians! There is a Yemeni coffee place (Haraz) just a short walk from the convention center, and this is the best thing that has happened to me in a year. If you have never had Yemeni coffee or pastries, I strongly endorse both (more strongly than any resolution!) #gc81
@scottagunn I'd be fine with that, honestly, but that gets us into "Can God make a rock so heavy he can't lift it" territory with "Can General Convention tell General Convention that it can't do something?"
@scottagunn And I would put some resolutions that I wrote in that category. Cleaned up the typos and repetitions in the LFF lectionary? Sure, fine, whatever. Want to spend actual floor time debating the finer points of the LFF lectionary instead of urgent problems? I will gouge my eyes out.
@scottagunn I'm so glad you're doing this! (And in the spirit of your post, I would propose a third category of voting beyond yes and no, which is "sure, fine, but I swear to God this had better be on the consent calendar!")
Me, rejoicing in the prayer schedule for the Transitus of St Benedict: Yesssssss! With all due reverence for our holy father Benedict, I would kill him off every day to sleep 90 more minutes!
Friends: Probably exactly what his monks said before trying to assassinate him, tbh...
@PopAndTheology There are better manuscripts out there, including in Syriac, which I read much better than Garshuni, but I havenβt gotten my hands on those. (I did this for an Arabic course, hence working in my weaker language!)
@PopAndTheology Well, itβs a VERY rough working translation, so youβre welcome to reference it, but I would probably be careful of verbatim quoting which might make it sound more definitive than it actually isβ¦
@erin_zoutendam I haven't been around here much, which means that I MISSED this announcement! You'll have to go visit the nice nuns in Mendham. https://t.co/1ptagStxUD
Because I suspect that very few church gatherings will actually be willing to sing this, I might even start offering a deal to teach/guest preach/lead workshops for free to anyone who puts this in a service I will be attending...
This past week I discovered the great hymn ever, which I will henceforth be requesting at every single church meeting, and lobbying to have included in any future Episcopal hymnals!
