Watching manipulative people defend themselves is genuinely one of the most pathetic spectacles. I almost feel bad, like how confidently stupid can someone actually be?
They start explaining how hard they tried to fool you, just with more words. When it doesn't work, they explain why they wanted to fool you instead. Then comes the punchline, they convince you that you deserved to be fooled anyway.
Their entire speech has one theme: me, myself and my fragile ego. It's funny watching someone accidentally confess while thinking they're clarifying. They proudly narrate their own nonsense, completely unaware how exposed they sound.
To them, they're the most intelligent and mature individuals that ever existed. And since they only truly know themselves, that belief might actually be true.
