(2/3) Players at one Double-A affiliate are required to stay in a hotel when their team is at home. They're being charged a minimum of $57/day for the privilege. This year, Double-A players are making $86/day, before taxes.

Let’s not forget that disability benefits are based on income, or the lack thereof. Once a disabled person is married, they typically lose their SSI but don’t magically “gain” the ability to work. So they’re still in the same boat, but now with another person :-)
