With the number of out‑of‑school children rising to 273 million for the seventh consecutive year, and amid escalating wars and conflicts, education remains the fundamental pillar for building a just and sustainable future. It is imperative to place it at the forefront of development priorities to ensure the right to learning for all.
Education is a human right.
For Dylane in Rwanda, like millions of out of school children worldwide, staying in school was not guaranteed.
This International Day of Education, his story shows how strong government-led systems, supported by early follow-up and community action, can help children return to school and stay in education.
When learning moves beyond memorisation and into hands-on discovery, confidence follows.
In rural Andhra Pradesh, students like Dheerja are learning maths by building it, tackling passive learning through project-based classrooms.
