“tú y yo”

I found a liquid ooze that opened a portal to the future. I travelled through it and I brought back a
sonic experience from 2084 that was futuristic yet retro. I then realized that it was a song that my
future self, embodied in a cyber organism, wrote to its creator.

The story behind “tú y yo” is a metaphor of Valentina’s life that talks about overcoming fears, doubts
and social construct through the power of self love. The song is narrated by the future Valentina to
herself in the past, reminding her that she can create her own vision of the world where she can be
herself, feel safe and help others that are starting the same journey of transitioning into their true
selves.

The story portrays a cyber organism that is experiencing what it is like to be human, She doesn’t want to wake up from the beautiful dream as she learns what it is to have feelings for the first time, a self-
romance tale that will last for eternity.

As a song “tú y yo” combines different genres from Synthwave with sparkles of
early Kraftwerkian Techno melodies/vocals, to dazzles of Pop Music that reminds of 80s
british Synthpop like Depeche Mode/Pet Shop Boys, with powerful edgy synth textures from the likes
of Kavinsky and Daft Punk, but still having its own identity and sound craft.

The Music was made using synthesizers and drum machines from the 80s like the legendary Jupiter 8,
Juno 106 and the original Linndrum.

Valentina’s sonic journey is opening up new audiences with an electronic portrayal of music and
discourse that relates in terms of a social movement to Artists like ARCA and Sophie. Embracing what
makes us different as individuals while uniting us all as humans.
