@Dija_Star The composer and performer of that piece is Sidi Ahmed Zeidan from Mauritania. An exceptional talent! It's not released individually unfortunately.
Not a movie, but on netflix there's a series of short films titled African folk tales Reimagined.. there's two episodes that I feel should be seen by everyone..
Episode 5. Titled "KATOPE"
episode 4 Titled "Enmity Djinn" striking bodies of work.. everyone must watch.
As a Malay growing up in a culture where stories of the jinn are common, this really resonated.
Enmity Djinn is a powerful short film that sits with you long after.
Maybe Malaysia and Mauritania have much in common. The Malays believe in "penungu" or Watcher/Guardian
The film “ Enmity Djinn” in the Netflix collection “African Folktales reimagined” is incredibly stunning. This representation of Mauritanian mysticism really moved me. Every shot is gorgeous, the story is captivating. A real work of art.
Il y a bien sûr quelques films qui se démarquent et qui m’ont bluffé. #EnmityDjinn est mon favori, alliant une photographie et une composition magnifique à une histoire poétique et profonde. Ça m’a beaucoup fait penser à #AGhostStory.
I love this one, I thought it was an entertaining one. My favourite is still Enmity Djinn, reminds me of a Helen Ukpabio movie from the 90s, but with elevated art and better production.
Finally watched the short film anthology #AfricanFolktales on Netflix, and I’m so impressed at the plot and imagery of these stories. My fav is probably Enmity Djinn, it was so well-executed and just spoke to me (evil djinns and how they bring out the worst in humans, come on!)
Horror buddies: watch episode 4: Enmity Djinn. You won’t be disappointed. Don’t wanna say more than that on account of its 20 minutes long but like. It’s 20 minutes long. You’re already on Netflix. Do it
