People over profits. Period.
NAACP just intervened in the $67B energy deal reshaping Virginia's "data center alley" because Black communities have borne the brunt of problematic energy issues far too long.
Civil rights and environmental justice must be front and center when fossil fuel use is being discussed, and the cost of utilities is on the line.
We've advocated against shutoffs, for renewable energy projects, and for low-income energy assistance, and we're just getting started.
Deploying troops to communities already under pressure is not leadership—it’s provocation. The Trump Administration is weaponizing fear to divide and destabilize. We will not be silent. We stand with those targeted and terrorized.
We fight for justice. Always.
We mourn the loss of Dr. Hazel N. Dukes, President of the NAACP New York State Conference and Member of the National Board of Directors. Dr. Dukes was one of the giants on whose shoulders we will continue to stand as we continue to do God’s work on earth. https://t.co/eNsK2YFnmY
Attention, corporations: if you want our dollars, it’s time to do the right thing.
The NAACP is proud to announce the launch of the Black Consumer Advisory, a framework designed to keep our community informed on who’s pushing progress and who’s stuck in the past.
"We have the power to choose where we spend our money. I am confident that this framework will support our community as we make difficult decisions on where to spend our hard-earned money." — @DerrickNAACP, President and CEO

Amid a #climatecrisis, investing in public transit is more important than ever. Not to mention, communities of color are disproportionately affected by GHG emissions, which mass transit can help to lower.

Donald Trump will become the 47th President of the United States.
America has decided, and now it’s up to you. Where will you stand these next four years?
Are you still in for women’s rights?
Are you still in for social justice?
Are you still in for an economy that works for you?
We are. Today, and everyday. #KeepAdvancing with us https://t.co/vAKkMzfckR
Regardless of who sits in the White House or the State House, the NAACP stands firm in our mission to protect the civil rights and dignity of Black and marginalized communities. Our commitment to social justice and equity is as resolute as ever.
This moment in time calls for resilience and unwavering vigilance. We will not be deterred from our mission.
We have a plan.
The @NAACP will continue to advocate for policies that dismantle systemic injustices and strive to improve the lives of the Black people and all Americans.
#Election2024
Just yesterday, Virginia state election officials requested the Supreme Court block a federal judge's ruling barring them from reviving an unlawful voter purge program that would prevent naturalized citizens from voting.
That program — responsible for purging more than 1,600 registered Virginia voters — was put in place by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin in August but was later struck down.
"The voter purges here are textbook examples of attempted voter suppression and intimidation."
— NAACP President and CEO @DerrickNAACP
