"I still pick up my husband’s laundry every Friday, even match his socks for him, so he’s not running around like a headless chicken in the mornings trying to get ready for work."

@RachelDEdwards Thanks for the gift of your book. Loved the language, the pace, the other 'smaller' stories, the randomness of Bankole's character, (even though I'm sure I have met him at Shepherd's bush a few times 😀) and the largeness of his heart. We exist in life for more than ourselves.

Just came here to say that there are some songs that no one else in the whole world can ever have the idea to compose except a Nigerian, like Bend low bend low bend low bend low bend low bend low bend low and see what the Lord can doooooo...🎵🎶
It's exactly a year since the UK went into its first lockdown and I've just published an essay highlighting what it has been like. I kept a diary during the first tough months which I've used to expand this essay to keep it mostly unspoiled by hindsight.
"London takes on a weightless quality. The stillness of everything is unsettling, disturbing. I’m swinging to the opposite ends of grief and despair like a pendulum, looking for small pockets of hope to balance on."

@DoubleEph The bigger damage of not being in school is worisome but right now, Boris must be looking at it as a later PM's mess to mop up anyway. The lack of foresight is horrible, I agree but he's probably at a 'I can't come and kill myself' point.🤣which is not funny, but...🤷♀️🤷♀️
@DoubleEph Almost zero reason maybe because we expect parents will be responsible and sort of maintain only school bubbles. But many parents are not, unfortunately. They take the liberty that kids can go to school to mean that kids can go everywhere else which specifically bothers me.
@DoubleEph Found myself being accepting of it this evening because Boris reiterated that schools are safe but are vectors transmitting to parents and grandparents, which is sort of getting on top of the situation, I think. It doesn't address the drop in productivity for parents sha. So...
I think we must all not underestimate the impact this year has had on our minds+bodies. This is regardless of whether you lost someone/business. The uncertainty, the back to back bad news, the choking feeling of what 2020 will represent for generations to come is no small thing.
Having said that, I have received a few sequel ideas in the DMs and one funny one is that when Mosunmola arrives in Lagos, "the generator noise and humidity will set her thinking straight because she's currently thinking with her brain under her feet."
Thank you all for engaging with my short story and wanting a sequel. There is no sequel coming, I'm afraid. I wrote with tenderness+compassion for Mosunmola's character and this has been the overwhelming feedback. So, thank you.
