Ah yes, because randomly revoking access to a game that YOU PAID FOR and not providing any way to refund the full game (THAT YOU PAID FOR,) or even giving anyone a way to play said game with a private server or offline access equals dodging a bullet as if it isn’t a problem.
We dodged a bullet.
I don’t want daddy state to harder oversee what can and can’t be done in video games.
If you actively support and call for the state to intervene in video games you’re genuinely just cattle.
You don’t like games as a service shutting down and leaving you out of things you paid for? DONT PLAY THEM, IS THAT SIMPLE.
Hey Tim? Care to explain why you delisted the unreal tournament games when you could make money from, you know, 2 FRANCHISES BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO PLAY ONLY FORTNITE!?
this is not an attack people who only play digital games nor do I encourage harass this induvial or anyone who likes digital only, plus it is just rumors right now, but if we can dump roms on pc WITHOUT sacrificing physical disks, then I don't see why Xbox can't do that as well.
And yet. People will defend this as if it is a good thing or as if they aren't going to be negatively affected by this as well. Even though physical gamers and digital gamers can coexist WITHOUT compromising the data on discs.
This is a disgustingly anti-consumer move. People buy physical games because they want to OWN THEIR GAMES. Turning game discs into glorified key cards is downright disgusting.
We hope Microslop discontinues this project immediately.

Honestly. this is the last time I talk about this subject as my time is better spent on other stuff than arguing with people who don't get it and think it is a pro consumer choice. Plus I've had my fun with this conversation right there. No need to waste time on this subject

@adojoe313@Pirat_Nation@Gamefantweets and yet, you still talk like a console fanboy lil bro. You know you like digital games more than physical games, but it shouldn’t have to come at the detriment of people who play games physically. both physical gamers and digital gamers can exist at the same time kid.
@adojoe313@Pirat_Nation@Gamefantweets So I’m talking to a console fanboy then since you have mention PC gaming like a thousand times in an argument that has nothing to do with PC gaming. Got it 👍
@adojoe313@Pirat_Nation@Gamefantweets The only thing that is “game changing” is that now if you get banned or lose your account, then you have no access to the games that YOU OWN PHYSICALLY regardless if you paid $70 for the game or got it for a discount.
@adojoe313@Pirat_Nation@Gamefantweets “I don’t like PHYSICAL Anime Manga because I have to turn the pages on a PHYSICAL book with my hands/fingers instead of swiping on screen” It is literally the same argument I could make especially when you reposted someones tweet showing off their PHYSICAL anime manga collection
@adojoe313@Pirat_Nation@Gamefantweets “I still have physical disks for PC games that REQUIRE a spinning drive to run” I don’t know why you think this helps with your argument when you simply don’t have to buy the games on disc, but more power to you I guess.
@adojoe313@Pirat_Nation@Gamefantweets Even if you prefer digital games over physical games, it’s just as harmful to the gaming industry as playstation’s DRM policy for newly owned DIGITAL games. We should be able to play the physical digitally without destroying the contents inside the disc.
(2) you should be able to have both physical copies and digital copies. If this can be done on PC, especially with ps2, ps3, xbox360, gamecube, N64, and ps4 games that you own, the it can be done with this supposed “new xbox system.” Something about this seems scummy as balls.
This all sounds like a great idea. Until you get to the “while the physical disc would likely stop working afterward to stop people from sharing or selling the same copy” part of the idea. this would do way more harm than good, especially if the rumors are true about the idea.🧵
Microsoft is working on a new system called Positron that could let Xbox players turn their physical game discs into digital copies.
The idea is simple: you put the disc in your console or drive, the system checks that you own the game, and then it adds a digital version to your Xbox account.
Once converted, the game would work with cloud gaming, play on many devices, and fit better with new hardware, while the physical disc would likely stop working afterward to stop people from sharing or selling the same copy.
We do not know which games would work, if it costs money, or when it might launch, and Microsoft has not confirmed it, so this is still just a rumor.
(1) Scamming would get way worse for physical games as the scammer could leave out the fact that they turned the PHYSICAL GAME into a digital game thus making the disc unplayable. Then proceeds to sell you the game for a higher price without you knowing it.
