Our team is currently conducting comprehensive baseline surveys across participating farms to establish critical ecological & environmental benchmarks for the Tree C-Sink Project.
These baseline data will provide a strong foundation for monitoring project impacts

As we celebrate our nation's journey of self-governance and progress, let us also reaffirm our commitment to protecting the environment and building a sustainable future for generations to come.
Together, we can create a greener, more resilient Kenya.

We team join the rest of the world in wishing our Muslim brothers & sisters a blessed and peaceful Eid Al-Adha.
May this occasion remind us of our shared responsibility to care for one another & protect the environment for future generations.

@cultivchange Absolutely! Biochar carries generations of indigenous knowledge & it’s inspiring to see these ancestral practices being embraced again through research, innovation & community-driven solutions.
Healthy soils are indeed the foundation for resilient agriculture & vigorous crops.
A month ago, we established testing plots for our Biochar Project by planting maize with & without biochar.
The first photo, with biochar application, shows healthy, strong & well-developed maize, the second without biochar reveals weaker crops lacking nutrients and vitality.
Bees are among the world’s most important pollinators, playing a critical role in protecting biodiversity & strengthening food security.
We proudly join the global community in celebrating these remarkable creatures & reaffirming our commitment to environmental conservation.
Our Kilifi team is hard at work sorting and drying coconut husks in preparation for biochar production; transforming agricultural waste into a sustainable resource for cleaner energy, healthier soils & a greener future.

Last week, @HardleyMalema from the Office of Innovation, in partnership with @PotentialEnergy, visited Eastern Uganda to explore opportunities for a biochar project.
The team assessed feedstock availability, distribution & potential partnerships to support expansion into Uganda.
The future we dream of begins with the actions we take today. Planting a tree now means creating cleaner air, cooler spaces, healthier ecosystems & a better tomorrow for generations to come.
A single tree has the power to inspire change, restore nature & transform communities.
Beneath our feet lies one of nature’s most powerful forces for soil health; the earthworm.
They act as “underground engineers” by:
• Boosting nutrients through rich castings
• Improving aeration for roots, air & water
• Enhancing soil structure & reducing erosion
Pre-quenching around the pit or Kon-Tiki kiln - not directly on the biochar - is a smart, controlled approach.
It helps manage surrounding heat, reduce sparks & dust, & prevent fire spread while maintaining proper pyrolysis conditions & preserving biochar quality.

Today, we celebrate the dedication, resilience & hard work that keep our communities & organizations moving forward.
Every effort counts, every role matters & every worker contributes to building a stronger, brighter future.

We were proudly represented by our Assistant Director, Finance & Legal, @GilfineNyangasi, at the TEA & GET.invest-supported GDC gathering.
The 3-day event brought together LMDs, investors & partners to strengthen business models, boost investment readiness & spark partnerships.
The audit team visited our Artisan Pro 2 site in Kilifi to observe the full biochar production cycle.
From pyrolysis to mixing and final application, the process makes use of coconut husk waste as a sustainable feed-stock.
The audit concluded with a final meeting where auditors reviewed documentation to confirm alignment with field observations.
The team then wrapped up and headed to Kilifi for the Artisan Pro 2 Biochar Project audit.
The teams visited our restoration sites and bamboo farms to assess the availability of bamboo & its potential to sustainably support the project over time.
This is key to ensuring a reliable feed-stock for continuous biochar production.
Day 3 of the project audit welcomed Circonomy’s team, the developers of the DMRV App.
They gathered field feedback from farmers, supervisors, and auditors to assess practicality, refine processes, and strengthen accuracy while exploring future DMRV improvements.
On Day 2 of the audit, the CERES auditors visited farmers participating in the C-sink model to assess their understanding of the entire biochar value chain.
The visit focused on verifying farmers’ knowledge of the production process, from pyrolysis to the final application.
Audit exercise underway for the Kongolo Biochar Project, conducted by CERES auditors Edith Kembabazi (Uganda) and Florent SO.
Day 1 included a visit to our Artisan PRO Production Site, Kakamega, to observe production processes and review operational standards.
Pictures below show our team working on our second testing plot, evaluating biochar’s impact on crop productivity.
We’re using Control (no biochar) vs Experimental (with biochar) plots for side-by-side comparison, measuring yield, plant health & soil improvement.
