On #EarthDay, we reflect on the importance of protecting our natural environment and the role we all play in caring for the planet.
In the Cayman Islands, our land and seas are central to our way of life - from vibrant marine ecosystems to teeming mangrove wetlands and the remote dry forests of the interior. Earth Day is an opportunity to recognise the value of active conservation. By supporting Cayman’s Marine Parks and Protected Areas we reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect Cayman’s natural heritage for future generations.

On Tuesday evening, the Cayman Islands Representative to the UK, Dr Tasha Ebanks Garcia, attended the Cayman Islands APPG Reception in Parliament. 🇰🇾✨
The APPG acts an important bridge, connecting the Cayman Islands with Parliamentarians in the UK and supports the collaborative, forward-looking relationship between the two countries.
Speaking about the reception, Dr Tasha said:
“I am truly touched by the overwhelmingly positive response we received at last night’s reception. It was wonderful to see so many MPs and Peers – old friends and new – who had given their time to attend. I know their parliamentary duties are incredibly demanding on their time, and it means so much to us that they chose to come and support the Cayman Islands.
I want to thank @SarahChampionMP for hosting the event and for being such an enthusiastic Chair of the APPG. Her passion for the environment is contagious and we are proud to have her championing the Cayman Islands in Parliament. I am also so very grateful to her office for the extensive help they provided in organising the event.
It was an honour to introduce our Premier and his delegation to so many attendees. The warmth of the welcome and the depth of support shown for the Cayman Islands is truly humbling.”

A few weeks ago, we gathered for a powerful Thanksgiving Service to mark 30 years since the eruption.
As the official anniversary approaches, we carry that moment with us — grounded in memory, resilience and unity.
30 years since the Soufrière Hills eruption, Myah Asha Jeffers captures the story of Montserrat — its loss, memory & resilience — in a striking @guardian photo essay.
A moving reflection on identity & belonging.
