Global Think Tank | Advancing financial policies to strengthen economic growth, national security and political freedom | Working on Venezuela’s reconstruction.
The future of Venezuela is bright, but people must act. It won’t happen just on its own. People have to assume responsibility.
Every single individual can make a difference.
“Now you have really this window of opportunity for your country.
I will do everything I can to support you. And I think we’re on the right track.”
We need to bring Venezuela back to where it belongs, and that is a free, prosperous, democratic country.
Today we had very good discussion and very competent speeches.
Thank you all for this valuable discussion, and special thanks to @JraissatiJorge for all his hard work and dedication.

🇻🇪🇪🇺#RebuildingVenezuelaSummit | Highlights from the first day of the Rebuilding Venezuela Summit at the European Parliament in Brussels.
We brought together Venezuelan experts, international leaders and European representatives for a day of meaningful discussions on the challenges and opportunities shaping Venezuela’s future.
A valuable first day of dialogue, collaboration, and shared commitment to Venezuela’s future.
Thanks to everyone who joined us and contributed to these important discussions.

This week at the @HudsonInstitute in Washington D.C., we discussed Venezuela’s economic recovery and the challenges ahead.🇻🇪
Rebuilding the country will require strong institutions, clear rules, and an environment where capital, businesses, and talent can thrive.
Venezuela is moving from political change to the much harder task of rebuilding a country 🇻🇪
Following the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3, Venezuela is navigating an interim government, early economic reforms, renewed U.S. engagement and major new energy investment, while fundamental questions about elections, political reform and democratic transition remain unresolved.
On September 28, @HudsonInstitute will host a conversation with @gildeguerra, @vrk_rick, @JraissatiJorge and César Dager to examine the progress made, the challenges ahead, and how Washington’s approach could shape Venezuela’s economic recovery and democratic transition.

After 28 years of socialism, Venezuela has a trust problem. 🇻🇪
Businesses were expropriated, entrepreneurs were persecuted, markets were controlled and contracts became vulnerable to political power.
So how can Venezuela convince long-term investors to come back? 🧵
Venezuela will need massive amounts of private capital to rebuild its energy, infrastructure, industry, and financial system.
That capital can return.
But after 28 years of socialism, trust must be earned.
Democracy depends on citizens being able to organize, dissent, and participate without fear of economic retaliation.
When activists, nonprofits, businesses, or political voices can lose access to banking because of who they are or what they believe, financial exclusion becomes a threat to democratic participation.
On the International Day of Democracy, we reaffirm a simple principle: financial freedom is part of political freedom.
Financial repression is becoming a global threat to democracy. We need to put it much higher on the agenda.
At the @oscepa Parliamentary Assembly in The Hague, @LTGHRMcMaster, former U.S. National Security Advisor, warned about the broader campaign of political subversion and gray-zone warfare by authoritarian regimes.
Financial systems can become part of that arsenal, through surveillance, restrictions, and abuse of compliance mechanisms against dissidents and civil society.
Democracies need to confront this threat with urgency.
Financial freedom is becoming a frontline of political freedom.
