When it comes to #reporting on child-related news, it's troubling how often we see stories that sensationalize the experiences of young victims of #Abuse.
This is a call to all media organizations to choose #ethics over engagement.

Most violence against children reported between Jan–Mar 2026 occurred in communities and homes, places that should be safe. Schools, digital spaces, lodges, and care facilities also emerged as settings of risk. Child protection is everyone’s responsibility.
January to March '26, media reports in Sri Lanka documented 105 incidents affecting 224 children.
Girls were more frequently identified in reported cases, particularly in incidents of sexual abuse and exploitation. A large number of reports also failed to specify victims’ gender
