#Quabbin History: In August 1936, the #Enfield Congregational Church was destroyed by arson on its 150th anniversary. Because the #swiftrivervalley was to be flooded in 2 years it was not rebuilt. #beforetheflood

#Quabbin #engineers tore down millions of trees to build the #QuabbinReservoir. But the #watershed had to be made anew. #Botanists grew millions of seedlings on abandoned farms to replace the trees. #BeforeTheFlood
