CYLD-mutated anal squamous cell carcinoma: An uncommon entity associated with cylindroma-like morphology and adverse clinical features - ScienceDirect https://t.co/DrAgUVQzHQ
Have you ever seen an anal carcinoma with cylindroma/adenoid cystic like features? It’s a thing. Don’t confuse it with a cutaneous adnexal tumor or BCC!!
And probably my last ever publication in GI pathology… #pathology#pathtwitter
@IHC_guy@Vik_deshpandeMD@jake_bledsoe Somewhere in Rosai 10th Ed, he mentions that the morphology of these basaloid carcinomas may reflect glandular or adnexal differentiation - I think that’s what the sox10 positivity is also trying to tell us.
@IHC_guy@Vik_deshpandeMD@jake_bledsoe Not too many studies where the mutation presence and immunostain are lined up for comparison. Basal cell adenoma/carcinoma are sox10 positive and have the mutation in some proportion. Similarly with spiradenomas (a minority are driven by cyld).
@Vik_deshpandeMD@IHC_guy@jake_bledsoe The analogous cyld mutant basaloid carcinomas of the head and neck are also Sox10+ (as are cylindromas, which of course share the mutation)
Have ever wondered it would be useful to have a handy tool for quick mapping and investigation of mutations, together with functional/genomic scores or any protein residue-wise annotation on protein 3D structure? Especially when the mutation is rare and de novo? 1/10

Accurate diagnosis on biopsy may prevent potentially unnecessary surgical excision. #breastpath#BSTPath
In the wake of working with @ProfRScolyerMIA on the chapter of Primary lung melanoma in the latest lung blue book we have just published a new case of this extremely rare entity. @IARCWHO#Melanoma#Pulmpath#PathTwitter

New study: There is a mathematical relationship that describes where anatomic substructures in the normal liver are located. The liver is logical. Congrats to my excellent colleague @RogerMo74821186

Sclerosing polycystic adenoma is a salivary tumor with mixed ductal, acinar, and myoepithelial elements that was previously considered non-neoplastic- but recent identification of PTEN/PI3K pathway mutations proved it is a neoplasm (PMID: 31605313). #ENTPath#SurgPath#IHCPath
Inflammatory rhabdomyoblastic tumor with progression to high-grade rhabdomyosarcoma and aggressive clinical behavior.
Most cases seem to follow an indolent clinical course, but there appear to be rare exceptions.

These authors found INSM1 expression is not exclusive to neuroendocrine carcinomas and should be correlated with other clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical features. https://t.co/RoJPRibUoF
Most patients with a thin melanoma have excellent prognosis, but not all. Thanks to a new online risk calculator developed by MIA clinicians can now calculate the likelihood a patient’s thin melanoma will spread.
