A successful and inspiring day for the European Chess Union at the Restartil Economy Conference 2026 in Frankfurt!
ECU President Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili addressed a distinguished audience of European business leaders, presenting ECU's vision for innovation, strategic growth, and the role of chess as a cultural and educational force across Europe.
Joining him were ECU Vice President Mr. Malcolm Pein and Commercial Chief Adviser Mr. Moshe Slav, who engaged with key stakeholders and explored new partnership and sponsorship opportunities for the Union.
Among the highlights of the day was the live demonstration of the Sense Robot Chess — drawing great interest from conference participants and opening exciting conversations about the future of chess technology.

Round 2 of the FIDE World Youth Chess Championships 2026 got underway today at the Pala Dean Martin Congress Center in Montesilvano, Italy.
The ceremonial first move was made by Luigi Maggi, President of the Italian Chess Federation, on Board 1 of the Girls Under-18 section, featuring top seed WIM Zarina Nurgaliyeva against Alexandra Grebeniuc.

The event gathers 758 players from 83 countries, competing for the title of World Youth Champion 2026 across three age categories (U14, U16 and U18), open and girls sections separately.
The Opening ceremony of the event took place shortly before the start of the first round. The participants and delegations were addressed by the President of the Italian Chess Federation Mr. Luigi Maggi, Tournament Director Mr. Roberto Mogranzini, Mayor of Montesilvano Mr. Ottavio De Martinis, City Council Member Mr. Adriano Tocco, FIDE Delegate Mr. Ozgur Solakoglu, and the Chief Arbiter of the event Mr. Marco Biagioli.

The FIDE World Youth Chess Championship 2026 officially got underway today in Montesilvano, Italy, as Round 1 commenced in a festive atmosphere.
The opening ceremony was graced by Luigi Maggi, President of the Italian Chess Federation, municipal representatives Ottavio De Martinis and Adriano Tocco, Tournament Director GM Roberto Mogranzini, and FIDE Delegate Ozgur Solakoglu.
With 774 players from 84 countries competing across the Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 Open and Girls categories, the world's finest young chess talents have begun their quest for glory.

The sponsorship agreement between FEDA and B100 The Healthy Banking will link ABANCA's digital banking brand with the federation and the national teams in all categories for the coming years. B100's integration into the federation's calendar will officially begin at the upcoming Spanish championships, where the brand will start to have a prominent presence within the official tournament ecosystem.

The 7th edition of the Stepan Avagyan Memorial concluded in Jermuk, Armenia. ♟️
🏆After nine played rounds, GM Samuel Sevian emerged as the Winner of the event with the score of 5.5 points and better tiebreak criteria than GM Vladislav Artemiev who had the same score but finished second. GM Nihal Sarin and GM Ray Robson tied for third place, scoring 5 points each.
