Pretty sure referees have got his one wrong. The law is that a player whose departure causes uncontested scrums cannot be replaced. You can substitute another player though... The player who got a red card just can't be replaced. Italy should have 14 players still. #IREvITA
@chrlzxvr some point in the last 5 years as a law amendment trial. World Rugby shouldn't essentially be changing the laws of the game without proper amendment to the laws by disguising fundamentally different applications as guidance or clarification.
@chrlzxvr Like I say, I've read the guidance but that's not what the laws of the game say. That's not a clarification, that's a completely different law that isn't in the laws of the game. My issue here is that guidance or clarifications shouldn't contradict the laws as written.
@Jdalt1999@SquidgeRugby If you have 15 and someone gets injured causing uncontested scrums you then have to play 14 to avoid feigning injury but no team is intentionally getting red cards to avoid contested scrums.
@Jdalt1999@SquidgeRugby Not quite, the law is if a player leaves the pitch to cause uncontested scrums that player can't be replaced. In this case the player who left causing uncontested scrums had been red carded. He was not who they were replacing, they then replaced a winger to bring a front row.
@chrlzxvr Thats the law which applies and it contradicts the guidance World Rugby have written. It says nothing about bringing two more players off to bring a front row back on. Just that they must now nominate one player to replace with a front row.
@chrlzxvr If a front-row player is sent off, and the team cannot continue with contested scrums with players already on the field, then the team noms another player to leave the playing area to enable an available front-row player to come on. The nominated player may act as a replacement.
@LynchieSoup They say you have to nominate another player to leave the field to enable an different (but out of position) front row to come on, not that you have to nominate a player to leave without replacement and then nominate another to sub a front row on.
@LynchieSoup Just seen this in the guidance. So they've implemented the guidance correctly but it appears as if whoever wrote the guidance has been taken some creative license with the laws as they are written. In no way to the laws as written require this.
@SquidgeRugby They've got it wrong! In a squad of 23 players or at the discretion of the match organiser, a player whose departure has caused the referee to order uncontested scrums cannot be replaced.
The player who got the red can't be replaced but you can replace anyone else to bring FR on
Very very exciting and a great platform for women's rugby! The more content that is tailored to the women's game and that puts a spotlight on the players, the easier it becomes to get new players excited about the sport and give them a sense of ownership in rugby.

@dannybrown27 2/2 It’s one of those issues you see in England that the nations with central contracting don’t face so much where national team coaches have a fair bit of say on systems and styles of play used at lower levels. But like you say from a players perspective it’s a tough situation.
@dannybrown27 1/2 Exactly, agree with all of that. I think I’ve read somewhere EJ has told SS he doesn’t fit in his playing style right now and the way Exeter forward in general play doesn’t fit particularly well. Which also explains why Don Armand never got a look in a few years ago.
@nsmitchell91 @Huwtedwards@AlexPayneTV 🏴’s biggest problem is for 4 years they had a bench that as long as they were in touching distance would close the game out. This is a young bench and is making little to no impact. Couple that with awful discipline and you aren’t winning many competitive test matches. #WALvENG
