AI will unfortunately reduce some of the opportunities traditionally available to beginners.

So the question is: How do you upskill fast enough to stay relevant?

I work with 3 SSRS report developers.

Last week, I took some time to set up Codex to read and understand our SSRS reports.

Then came the test.

I shared 5 report issues with the developers and gave the same issues to Codex.

While the developers were still trying to trace where the problems were coming from, Codex had already helped me identify and fix all 5 reports.

That experience reinforced something for me.

The advantage is gradually shifting from:

“I know how to do this task.”

to:

“I understand this task deeply enough to make AI do it with me, and I can validate whether its output is correct.”

This is where beginners need to pay serious attention.

AI is compressing the time it takes to move from problem → diagnosis → solution.

So learning only the mechanics of a tool may no longer be enough.

Learn the fundamentals.
Understand the system.
Understand the business logic.
Learn how to debug.
Learn how to validate.
And learn how to use AI aggressively on top of all of that.

Because the competition is shifting from
You vs. another beginner to You vs. someone experienced who knows how to multiply themselves with AI.
