These boys are treating Worlds like it’s PanAms. What a wild tournament they are having

I laughed at someone’s pre-tournament prediction of 6 golds and 3 bronzes, but now… 👀👀

[Justin Basch @JustinJBasch]

With a record nine semifinalists and all 10 wrestling for a medal, Team USA has clinched its 3rd straight U20 Worlds Team Title!

Next Up: Robideau, James, Boyle & Ross are in the semis at 11 am ET.

After that, at 12 ET: Cortez & Bassett go for Gold and Mastny & Burton wrestle for Bronze.

If @JaxForrest6 wins a natty this year, he might have the craziest storyline I can remember in wrestling

[Eric @edb215]

@wrestlingnomad Absolutely. But as a coach, its your job to advocate for your athlete. And to make sure EVERYONE is doing their job, including the mat chairman

[Eric @edb215]

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: the 2nd coach in the corner is responsible for this. 1st coach is responsible for the athlete and the tactics, 2nd coach needs to monitor the officials, timing, and the score board for criteria. There should be 0 confusion

[The Barn Session - Wrestling Podcast @TheBarnSession]

We’ve got controversy…

After taking the lead 11-11 on criteria, desanto fends off his opponent for the final moments of the match. After FIVE MINUTES of deliberation, the officials determine his opponent has criteria…

Not a great look, what’re your thoughts?

[Eric @edb215]

@wrestlingnomad They finally made their point-based-rankings matter for more than just seeds too! Now guys gotta get out and compete to earn their scores

[Cornell Wrestling @BigRedWrestling]

184: Christian Hansen upsets ranked Zack Ryder, 4-2!

Oklahoma State 15, Cornell 12

[Cornell Wrestling @BigRedWrestling]

133: @TylerFerrara3 beats former NCAA Champ Richard Figueroa, 11-9!
He trailed 7-3 early but dominated the second and third periods to get the Big Red on the board.

Oklahoma State 4, Cornell 3

[Eric @edb215]

The problem facing anyone that wrestles @JaxForrest6 is his carefree approach to opponents scoring. He’ll let you score 2 now so he can score 4 later. And I’m not sure he doesn’t just make some of this stuff up on the fly. So damn fun to watch

57 kg Gold – Helen Maroulis 🇺🇸 dec. Il Sim Son 🇰🇵, 3-2 #WrestleZagreb

Maroulis adds to her legacy with a fourth World Championships gold medal. She now owns 8 World medals (4 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze) and 3 Olympic medals (1 gold, 2 bronze).

[Eric @edb215]

Captain America Kyle Snyder is back! Queen Helen is back! Did we travel back in time?!

[Eric @edb215]

Unreal tournament Helen Maroulis is having! All 3 matches have been 5-0 falls, including over the always tough Japan!

[Eric @edb215]

TRENT HIDLAY IS THAT GUY! What a performance!!!

[Eric @edb215]

@KozakJon If Real doesnt at least make it thru repechage to the bronze match, it’s over. Iran needs to lose at least 3 of 5 remaining, including the H2H with Snyder

[Eric @edb215]

@wrestlingnomad Iran has to lose at AT LEAST 3 of their 5 remaining matches, including the H2H with Snyder. But if Real doesnt pull thru for to at least get to the bronze match, it’s all over

[Eric @edb215]

@KozakJon Possibly the most important match for team race tomorrow could come down to Real Woods vs Amouzad in the 1/8 finals. Lot of weight on Woods’ shoulders for his first trip!

[Eric @edb215]

@KozakJon Similar to Dake’s first run, but I would give the nod tk Zahid here because he did it at an Olympic weight. Impressive!

[Eric @edb215]

@KozakJon Despite Spencer losing, that session played out nicely with Iran dropping their matches
