One would think that he was the one who died during the struggle. Late MKO Abiola’s kids won’t even boast about their father being responsible for the relative democratic peace we enjoy today despite losing him to the struggle.

This is how little potbellied tyrants in arrested development arrogate powers they don’t have to themselves. He merely protested as an incorrigible and negligible student union perpetual agitator yet for those incapable of reasoning, he is forcing the narrative that he single-handedly delivered democracy.

You can see the potential danger in reading only the rhetoric of ideologues online and how easy you can be brainwashed. He is pontificating on national television that a seasoned politician like HE @ChibuikeAmaechi should worship at his feet just because he protested as a misguided student under the pretense of fighting for democracy.

Is this the kind of people real politicians or ideal students of history should take seriously? This is another content and virtue signaling for grants. The claims are neither here nor there but anything goes for political content creators pretending to run for the highest office in the land. 🍿

PRESIDENT TINUBU SWEARS IN ABEL ENITAN AS HEAD OF THE CIVIL SERVICE OF THE FEDERATION

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday swore in Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF).

Enitan succeeds Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at the State House, Abuja, marking the commencement of Mr Enitan’s tenure as the nation’s Chief Administrative Officer.

President Tinubu named Enitan, the most senior Permanent Secretary, as the new Head of Service on August 19, 2026.

The former HoCSF, Mrs Walson-Jack, attended the swearing-in ceremony, along with her husband, Hon. Nimi Walson-Jack. The wife of the new Head of Service, Mrs Olawunmi Ololade Enitan; and the Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr Peter Fashedemi, also attended the ceremony.  

President Tinubu congratulated the new Head of Service and urged him to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, accountability and efficiency in the Nigerian Civil Service.

The new Federal Civil Service helmsman was born on December 12, 1966. An indigene of Osun State, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos and a Master’s in Public Policy Analysis from the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

He joined the Federal Civil Service in 1998 as a Senior Operations Officer at the discontinued Family Economic Advancement Programme (FEAP).

Enitan also served at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs before his posting to the Office of the Vice President in the State House, where he served as Chief Administrative Officer and rose to Director between 2010 and 2018.

He was appointed Permanent Secretary in December 2018 and posted to the Federal Civil Service Commission. He later served in the Ministries of Environment, Police Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and Education until his latest appointment as HoCSF.

ATIKU AND HIS SUBSIDY THEATRICS

Forget, for a moment, that I studied economics and left with honourable feats. Forget the MBA from one of Europe's finest business schools, the years spent in the company of numbers and their meanings.

I say - Forget all that - and if you carry a PhD in "Fuel Subsidy" yourself, set that aside too. Let us all sit at the table as ordinary men, as naive and ignorant as Atiku assumes us to be. For that is the wager he has made: that we have forgotten.

Because to me, the educated and the politically unconflicted are not confused about what drives Atiku's policy gymnastics. A man who has spent over three decades failing to convince a nation to believe in him will, in the end, promise almost anything. He would promise to give children to the barren if he thought it would win a vote.

Therefore, our analysis must not be riddled in complexities and scholastic jargon but in simplicity, clarity, and relevance - for our targets are not exactly the sophisticated elites but the masses, who may not have the luxury of full information, and who can be seduced by the mirage of instant relief.

The EIGHTY YEAR OLD, 7th term Presidential Contender has finally found his joker, or so he thinks for now by embracing and promoting extreme populist ideologies such as "I will return fuel subsidy."

Again, recall, I speak now as a layman, so I will not be reeling out statistics or presenting data, I merely attempt to recharge our collective consciousness the Nigeria that was under the Almighty fuel subsidy regime.

Shall I Begin?

1. The businessman begged where he should have built.

The private sector gasped for forex like a fish thrown to dry land. CEOs of mega-industries bribed, begged, and bled just to secure the dollars that kept their gates open one more day. Many stood at the edge of the cliff, pushed there not by market forces but by policy - slow-motion assassination, propelled by misgovernance.

Atiku must now convince these businessmen - and every employee whose job survived, and every family that leaned on that job - to walk back into that furnace with him.

2. The civil servant, faithful in labour, was answered with excuses.

Civil Servants in not less than 20 States were economically stranded and rendered financially impotent because though they are hardworking, diligent in service and credibly competent in their profession, they are always met with excuses at month end. Why?

Because FAAC allocations were grossly inadequate and many States governments couldn't meet their recurrent expenditure.

Husbands were reduced to shadows in their own homes. Wives became burdens where they should have been partners. Children became weights where they should have been joy - all because government failed to pay what it owed.

Atiku must now convince these civil servants, in their multitudes, to march back into that darkness behind him.

3. The student paid in years, not naira.

In the so-called "glorious" era Atiku longs to resurrect, universities did not open - they shut. Strike after strike, protest after protest, because government coffers stood empty. A four-year course quietly became five, six, seven - years stolen not by failure, but by a failing state.

Atiku must now find ways to convince these same students - grown now, and remembering - to add their voices to his march backward.

A leader looks forward - A desperate politician travels backward.

FG Unveils $1 Billion HOPE-SP Initiative, Shifts Humanitarian Support from Palliatives to Sustainable Pathways

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has officially unveiled and launched the $1 billion Household Prosperity and Economic Social Protection Project (HOPE-SP), themed *“From Palliatives to Pathways,”* alongside key reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s social protection and humanitarian response architecture.

The Special Guest of Honour, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, while unveiling the initiatives on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, commended the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro and his team for his commitment to transforming humanitarian interventions from temporary assistance into sustainable pathways to recovery, empowerment and self-reliance.

She noted that, the initiatives are designed to improve the identification, targeting and support of vulnerable households, strengthen coordination across humanitarian and poverty-reduction programmes, provide shock-responsive assistance, and promote accountability and measurable outcomes.

In his presentation, the Honourable Minister, Dr. Doro, said, the launch represents a strategic shift *“from palliatives to pathways”,* placing vulnerable households, rather than individual programmes, at the centre of government interventions.

Dr. Doro explained that, the reform seeks to address fragmentation, duplication and multiple uncoordinated registries by establishing a unified national architecture linking identification, needs assessment, targeted intervention, protection, empowerment, poverty graduation and sustainable growth.

The Minister stated that, the One Humanitarian, One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) will serve as a major system reform, bringing humanitarian response, social protection and poverty reduction interventions into a coordinated national framework supported by unified registries, digital delivery systems, improved financing, stronger institutions, accountability and real-time intelligence.

Other initiatives unveiled included the Emergency Shock-Responsive Cash Transfer, the FMHAPR Ministerial Blueprint, and the Humanitarian First Magazine, which will document the experiences and impact of government interventions on beneficiaries.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, said, the initiatives would strengthen coordination and accountability stressing that, the ultimate measure of success would be the tangible difference made in the lives of vulnerable Nigerians.

Goodwill messages were delivered by Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum on behalf of other Governors and sub-national governments, the Hon. Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Abubakar A. Bagudu, the former Minister of State, Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu,
the European Union, World Bank, other international development partners all commended the federal Government's efforts to strengthen Nigeria's social protection and Humanitarian systems.

The event featured a cultural performance by the Irigwe New Wave Dance Troupe from Plateau State.
