I’ll say this once.

Don’t make it a habit to be “helping out” in house chores.

All these:

“She’ll cook, I’ll wash plates” BS shouldn’t be happening in the first place.

That’s her duty. To keep the home running.

If you start giving her the power to tell you to do things in the house, sooner or later, both of you will start wearing the same trousers.

She cooks.
You eat.
She takes your plate to the kitchen & wash it.

You’re already providing for the house.

That’s the least. she can do.

Then even URANIUM too... Niger’s uranium once powered French nuclear plants and Western weapons research.

So when Western powers talk about “helping Africa develop,” sometimes it’s just a polite way of saying, “We need your soil to sustain our sky.”

Five years ago today, I was on a clinical rotation in the ER, and my first encounter was with a guy who had a bullet hole. He wanted to end it all after finding out his wife was cheating with the neighbor. That guy would always come by to watch the game every Sunday night. As soon as he turned his back to work, the neighbor would slip into his house and get cozy with his wife.

The funny part that day was that he forgot his wallet while rushing out that morning, and he had some things scheduled to do with his car that required his driver's license. He came back home, opened the door, and headed upstairs. His wife was in the shower, and he wanted to say hi, but he noticed another voice.

He tried to force his way in, but the guy on the other side fought back. He got his tool and pulled down the door. By then, people in the neighborhood had gathered to hear the loud noises and yelling. When he pulled the door down, he was overwhelmed with everything. Everyone in the neighborhood now knew, and the shame his kids faced in school was unbearable.

If that wasn’t enough, the two boys turned against their father, accusing him of working a lot and saying that he deserved it. This was the excuse the cheating wife gave. His only daughter sided with her mother and cried every night about the mess, facing bullying from friends at school because the neighbors talked, and they mostly attended the same school. The boys became mean, moved out with their mother, and started demonizing their sister.

He said I struggled with alcoholism, and I saw my life go from 10 to 0. I couldn’t handle it anymore, so I put a shotgun under my jaw, thinking it would end my suffering, but the bullet came out from my teeth and destroyed my nose.

I wept uncontrollably that day. I went to the bathroom and wrecked my eyeball. The girl who brought him snacks and drinks started crying the moment she saw me. He came back to the hospital a couple of times, and then I heard that he finally finished it all.
