I just saw traffic stop after a ball went over the fence of a school onto the street. And someone got out of their car to throw the ball back into the school playground onto a crowd of cheering kids. It was so endearing. What a great way to start my day.
My column today: Residential streets are where children ride bikes, neighbours walk dogs, and communities gather. Lowering speed limits would align Winnipeg with other Canadian cities and make our neighbourhoods safer and more livable for everyone.

This is getting out of hand. Canada is not a safe place for Jews anymore and what’s even more frightening is how few people here are speaking out against this garbage.
If we don’t get this under control, people are going to get hurt. We’ve been warned several times now.
My son is learning percentages at school. He’s doing questions calculating provincial taxes on a purchase. He stops, and says ‘I already hate taxes and I don’t even have to pay them yet’ 😂.
#misinformation is one of the greatest problems we face as a society. I like what Finland is doing. Media literacy should be part of the Canadian curriculum for all students.
Being able to identify hoaxes, avoid scams & debunk propaganda is a civic skill required in today's information society. That's why curriculum for students in Finland includes media literacy lessons, aimed at safeguarding a precious resource: the truth. https://t.co/NY3BmH9Xla
Happy Hanukkah. It’s a beautiful holiday
First day candles done, we are ready for tomorrow
Things shouldn’t be this hard. Live your life in peace, let others live theirs.
No matter where you’re from or what you believe
“‘Vaccines don’t cause autism’ has never been proven.” Correct, because that’s not how science works.
If I say “sunning your perineum twice per day increases your IQ by 10 points” you would say, “prove it.” The burden of proof is on me, the person with a tanned perineum. If I responded by saying, “no, you prove to me perineal sunning DOESN’T increase your IQ by 10 points,” I am operating under the false assumption that my perineal sunning claim is fact without evidence to back it up.
The burden of proof is on the person claiming that vaccines cause autism, not the other way around.
Today and every day, we remember the courageous men and women in uniform who have, and continue to put their lives on the line for our country 🙏 #RemembranceDay
More bikes than cars. That means more people moving in less space with less public cost, less pollution, more retail spending, longer & healthier lives, greater happiness etc. In more & more central cities the Simpsons is proving prophetic. HT @adamtranter
Here’s a nice analysis of 2.5M children about Tylenol and autism. The study found a small association between tylenol use in pregnancy and autism, but the association went away in sibling analysis. In sibling analysis you compare children born to the same mother where one child was exposed to Tylenol but not the other. This is a better comparison because genetics are similar between siblings whereas they differ greatly in non siblings from different families. Bottom line: no increased risk of autism with tylenol use in a huge population analysis. https://t.co/JyodtiSwWC
If your downtown still has many wide & fast one-way streets, then your priority is to move cars quickly thru the downtown. It’s NOT to create a vibrant downtown, help downtown retailers, keep people safe, support walkability & accessibility, reduce pollution, etc. #TrafficSewers
NEW: 1km of Montreal’s Ste-Catherine Street will become permanently “pedestrian only.” 225+ new trees, vegetation-covered pits for rain drainage, more seating, illuminated canopy, financial help for businesses, etc.
Really smart. https://t.co/UJCOJLvcJZ

New @WHO report demonstrates that corporal punishment harms children’s health and offers no benefits to their behaviour, development or well-being: https://t.co/iZrFsIIbay
What if we designed cities, and the land-uses, densities and infrastructure that make them what they are, so that daily activity and exercise was just an ordinary, “invisible” part of every day life?
It’s actually not that hard. You just have to change priorities. #HealthyCities
At yesterday's funeral, a speaker shared that Olivia survived for long enough for her family to say a final goodbye — thanks to a supply of available blood.
I haven't donated in a million years but I've made an appointment for tomorrow. So much love to these good people.
