A thriving market is a thriving economy. Governor Gladys Wanga’s investment in modern market infrastructure reflects a development agenda that puts the interests of ordinary wananchi at the centre.
From creating a dignified trading environment for small-scale traders to opening up better market opportunities for farmers, these investments are strengthening local enterprise, expanding livelihoods and stimulating economic growth across Homa Bay County.
This is what people-centred leadership looks like: development that goes beyond structures to create real opportunities, improve incomes and uplift communities. Under Wanga’s stewardship, Homa Bay is steadily building an economy where every trader, farmer and household has a stake in progress.
Maendeleo si majengo pekee, ni maisha ya wananchi kubadilika!

We came, we saw, we conquered! What a grand finale to the Month of Baba as we commemorated the life and enduring legacy of Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga @RailaOdinga in spectacular fashion! Throngs of people walked all the way from Uhuru Park to Jacaranda Grounds, turning up in overwhelming numbers with so much love and passion for Baba. Jacaranda Grounds was painted ORANGE as Nairobi came together in a powerful show of unity, celebrating Baba's legacy while reaffirming a united front alongside H.E. President William Samoei Ruto @WilliamsRuto.
Nairobi ODM was well represented in the Tutam Movement, led by our DPL, H.E. Governor Simba Arati @SimbaArati, our ODM Chairperson, H.E. Governor Gladys Wanga @gladyswanga, our very able SG, Hon. Catherine Omanyo @HonOmanyo, Nairobi ODM Chairperson, Hon. George Aladwa @h_aladwa, Hon. Jalang'o @JalangoMwenyewe, alongside many other party leaders, Members of Parliament, MCAs and numerous aspirants who continue to choose the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as their party of choice to vie for elective positions. As we bring the Month of Baba to a close with a bang, we remain committed to honouring his memory and celebrating his enduring legacy. The month may end, but Baba's legacy lives on! Nairobi is ORANGE! Chama iko imara!

Jacaranda today was loud. Orange everywhere.
End of Mwezi wa Baba, but start of 2027 bargain.
ODM's demand is now clear: Deputy President must come from ODM if we back Ruto.
Chair Wanga said it in Kakamega, Nassir & Arati repeated it today at Jacaranda.
Message: No informal deal. We want formal 50-50 coalition before Feb 2027.
This puts DP Kindiki vs ODM. UDA says Kindiki stays till 2032. ODM says numbers must count.
@gladyswanga and co are negotiating from strength, not begging.

Baba’s political wisdom was exceptional. He understood that ODM’s place in the broad-based arrangement was not about abandoning our identity, but about advancing his lifelong dream of a united Kenya where every community matters. Even in his absence, his vision continues to guide us.
We owe it to his legacy to protect the unity he championed, uphold the ideals he stood for, and ensure that ODM remains true to its people and its mission. Baba may be gone, but his wisdom and vision live on in us.
#Mweziwababa
Any individual or parties seeking political alliances, mergers or coalitions and/or otherwise must restrict their choices to themselves.
ODM knows where it is going, what it wants and how to get there.
#Tukotayari
No empty politics. No complacency. We organise, we mobilise, and we build a stronger ODM. Ward by ward, village by village, member by member.
@TheODMparty must form the next government or be part of it. Let us meet at JACARANDA grounds 31/10/2026...

The announcement by H.E. President William Ruto that Raila Odinga International Stadium will officially open on 5th January 2027, with a historic match between German giants Bayern Munich and Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam, is welcome news for Kenya and a proud moment for African football.
The naming of this world-class facility in honour of the late Rt. Hon. BABA Raila Amolo Odinga is a great posthumous honour, recognising his place in Kenya's history and ensuring that his name remains part of the country's national story for generations to come. It is a lasting tribute to a statesman whose contribution to Kenya's political journey and public life will continue to be remembered.
The prospect of watching two of Europe's celebrated football clubs compete on Kenyan soil is equally exciting. It demonstrates our country's ambition to position itself as a destination for major international sporting events, while opening opportunities for tourism, enterprise, employment and the growth of local sporting talent.
I commend H.E. President William Ruto and all those involved in delivering this landmark facility. As we look forward to 5th January 2027, we celebrate both a new chapter for Kenyan sport and the enduring honour of having a national sporting landmark bear the name of the late Raila Amolo Odinga.
The announcement by H.E. President William Ruto that Raila Odinga International Stadium will be officially inaugurated on 5th January 2027, featuring a historic clash between German powerhouse Bayern Munich and Dutch football giants Ajax Amsterdam, marks a significant milestone for Kenya and African sport.
Naming this iconic facility after the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga is a fitting tribute to a towering figure in Kenya’s history. It honours his enduring contribution to the nation’s political evolution and public life, ensuring that his legacy remains enshrined in a national landmark for generations to come.
Beyond the historic recognition, hosting two of Europe’s most prestigious clubs on Kenyan soil signals the country’s growing ambition to attract world-class sporting events. Such occasions can boost tourism, stimulate local businesses, create employment and inspire the next generation of Kenyan football talent.
I commend H.E. President William Ruto and everyone whose efforts have made this landmark project possible. As we anticipate 5th January 2027, we celebrate not only a major leap forward for Kenyan sport but also a lasting national tribute to a statesman whose name and legacy will continue to inspire the country.
Those who think they can come among us and decide for us will not divide us.
ODM has learnt from past political alliances and will approach future negotiations from a position of strength, guided by the interests of its members and the aspirations of its supporters.
As we prepare for the 2027 General Election, we are equally laying the foundation for a long-term political strategy that will position ODM for the 2032 presidential contest. Our focus is on building a stronger, more united party with a clear vision for the future.
That strength must begin at home. As Chairperson, my responsibility is to ensure that we conduct free, fair and credible nominations that produce strong candidates capable of winning elections and representing our people effectively.
ODM’s future must be shaped by its members, strengthened by unity and secured through strategic leadership.

For the avoidance of doubt, the ODM party is very much alive… Big… and getting more stronger.
We just returned from Turkana and and the reception was HUGE.
From South Sudan/Ethiopia border to down south Tanzania border, ODM Party iko imara!
Baba united Kenya through inclusion; divisive politics seeks to pull it apart. His legacy was built on embracing every community, while tribalism and exclusion threaten the unity he championed.
