Bolt is a very good mobility and delivery company, and fair play to Estonia for producing it. But it’s still not remotely comparable to Yandex.

Yandex is search, maps, taxis, food and robot grocery delivery, music, cloud, AI, voice assistants, etc. It’s sort of Google, Uber, Spotify and parts of Amazon (like Alexa) all rolled into one.

Instead of attacking Yandex, perhaps the EU might ask why its own member states have failed to produce anything comparable.

Russia built a domestic tech ecosystem covering search, maps, taxis, delivery, cloud, AI, voice assistants and local services.

The EU, with far more money and a much larger market, mostly relies on the likes of Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta and Uber and essentially functions as a digital colony of the United States.

Russia exports about 80% of it's aluminium production. The import is just so that Rusal, the owner of both plants, can earn more, not for Russian weapons production.

Beekeepers in Russia’s Stavropol region have appealed directly to Putin after a mass die-off of bees they describe as a local-scale environmental emergency.

They say bees began dying en masse on May 8 after rapeseed fields were reportedly treated with chemicals without warning nearby farmers. At least 25 apiaries were affected, with estimated losses exceeding 30 million rubles.
