Also, use this period to map out different visa options, both in the UK and elsewhere, that you can explore and pursue. It is much easier to travel to other developed countries from the UK to study and work.

3. Build your social capital and professional networks: Focus on top individuals and organisations in your field and connect with them. Follow them on LinkedIn, attend their events, apply for any volunteering or internship opportunities, and engage with their online posts. There is a subtle culture of institutional or person specification sameness in the UK. This means that sometimes people with perceived interests and values similar to those of the organisations are more likely to be recruited. I got my current roles using this strategy.

4. Finally, don't be afraid of embarrassment and failure in the pursuit of your goals. You'll face many rejections and disappointments, but let this be a learning process that builds your resilience and courage.

When you have done all these, and it seems nothing is forthcoming for you in the UK, then it might be that your blessings or breakthrough are tied to another country. At least you can tell yourself, "I tried my best and all I could." More so, you would have gained significant experience and social capital needed to succeed anywhere you find yourself.
