"Im going to allow my creativity to guide the way. The fruits of my labour will create a lifestyle for me. The aim is to become self sufficient from my higher purpose. Thats my definition of success and living a fulfilling life."
The math on this image is insane.
New Horizons transmitted at 2,000 bits per second from 3 billion miles away. Slower than a 1990s dial-up modem. It took 16 months to download all the flyby data.
The spacecraft had to hit a target box 100km wide, arriving within 150 seconds of schedule, after 9 years of flight. Miss it and the preloaded observation commands point at empty space.
Ten days before arrival, the spacecraft crashed and went into safe mode. Engineers had 72 hours to restore everything.
The probe is now 5 billion miles out, still whispering data back to Earth. We got 50 gigabits of Pluto photos using technology slower than your phone’s bluetooth.
🗣️ JOSE MOURINHO: "El Barcelona no tiene un sueño, sino una obsesión: el Real Madrid. Te enseñan a odiarlos. Odian al Madrid más de lo que aman al Barcelona. Tienen una obsesión llamada Bernabéu".
This menswear film. I gasped seeing that coat he wore in the rain when he was showcasing the project, the ribbed cardigan you could have sworn was Homme Plissé. Oh and the ties!
Naively I didn’t expect #TimothéeChalamet’s speech to become controversial.
But once again talking about sincere & coherent speeches, in a society so used to celebrate mediocrity & false modesty, it’s refreshing to see someone who works hard and goes out of their way to put themselves in risky, exciting, challenging jobs that many actors - specially male actors - wouldn’t put themselves into specially since very young age - and absolutely excel in every single one of them - speaking genuinely about celebrating their effort and the results the effort brings.
And more than anything, in a society that has been celebrating mediocrity & directionless in life, it’s refreshing to see someone still young, whose so many young people look up to, saying live to a global audience that he DOES HAVE a clear goal, that he is working hard to achieve it, and that he also feels inspired by the “greats” to be able to, one day, be considered one of them - and not sugarcoating it.
Because let’s be honest, that’s literally what most actors in this business strive for, they are mostly in pursuit of greatness.
But for some reason it became a sin to celebrate this goal - or any ambitious goal for that matter - or the process that goes into trying and achieving that level. But it’s ok and expected to say things that not even your dog would believe, as long as it’s nice and downplayed and sweet and “don’t wanna stand out too much” kinda stuff, what is literally the opposite to most actors’ own nature.
Kudos to Timmy C for speaking HIS truth in HIS moment and for surely having inspired so many young talent yesterday, that will very likely be quoting his speech in upcoming years when they find themselves in similar privileged moment of their lives.
