"Anatomy of a Held Breath"
There is a fraction of a second when the body forgets to breathe - and that is precisely what I came to photograph. The spine arches, the throat opens, the hands press into aged oak: a pose that reads less like a decision and more like a confession the body makes before the mind can interrupt it. I placed her on an antique trunk not for aesthetic contrast but for its Vanitas logic - centuries of closed things, preserved things, things no longer spoken - beneath a figure in full anatomical extension, lit by two windows that offer no drama, only the cool, even luminance of a classical académie study. There is no theatrical chiaroscuro here, no shadow performing for the viewer. What remains is tonal restraint, contrapposto stillness, and the question the image refuses to answer: whether she is held by the pose, or holding herself within it.
