I joke around sometimes with my husband that in my next life I want to come back as a dad.

But night time rolls around, the house settles, and I don’t mean it, not even a little

If I had a thousand lives to choose from, I would choose to be a mother in every single one

I would choose the cost. I’d sacrifice my body, myself, all of me for the blessing that is being someone’s mom.

My body is so much different, I’ve lost half my hair, my skin is stretched, my patience runs thin most days, I look different, I am so different

Different because I was able to carry in me the people I love the most in the world, I got to feel their very first kicks. I got to hold two heartbeats inside my own. I got to shelter them in warmth, grow them in silence, and be the first arms to hold them, inside and outside the womb.

What a terrible tragedy it would be to ever wish this away or wish it differently

One day I’ll be an old lady walking down the store isle looking at another young mom with a cart full of children; and I won’t wish for another life to be someone else, or something else, I’ll wish instead to come back and live my own life all over again…

Late yesterday, I had an exceptionally productive meeting with Prime Minster @MarkJCarney.
