Zbrodni o większej skali niż Wołyń czy Katyń.

"Operacja polska NKWD (1937–1938) była zaplanowaną, masową zbrodnią o charakterze czystki etnicznej i ludobójstwa, która doprowadziła do eksterminacji co najmniej 111 tysięcy osób,szacunki historyków sięgają nawet 200 tysięcy.

Akcja ta została uruchomiona 11 sierpnia 1937 roku na mocy tajnego Rozkazu nr 00485 wydanego przez szefa NKWD Nikołaja Jeżowa za pełną zgodą Józefa Stalina. Pod pretekstem "całkowitej likwidacji polskich siatek szpiegowskich" Sowieci przeprowadzili totalną eliminację ludności polskiej zamieszkującej terytorium ZSRS.

Podstawą aresztowania było samo polskie pochodzenie, nazwisko lub wyznanie rzymskokatolickie. Sowieci szukali ofiar https://t.co/96ldKcDvHu. w książkach telefonicznych czy spisach zakładów pracy

Ofiary dzielono na dwie kategorie – pierwsza oznaczała natychmiastowe rozstrzelanie, a druga wysyłkę do łagrów na 5 do 10 lat. Los rodzin: Żony rozstrzelanych mężczyzn zsyłano do obozów pracy (GUŁAG), a ich dzieci trafiały do specjalnych, sowieckich domów dziecka, gdzie poddawano je przymusowej rusyfikacji i indoktrynacji"
