28 Years Later is to the franchise what Fury Road was to Mad Max 10 years ago: just a lovable old man coming back with years of experience under his belt to make the most batshit crazy blockbuster. The need to rewatch this movie has infected my brain.
If you haven't read Dune: Messiah, you might be wondering why Princess Irulan/Florence Pugh looks like this. I've read it so I'll briefly explain: I have no fucking idea what's going on here.
Denis Villeneuve confirmed on the DUNE livestream that MESSIAH is a mix of 15/70 IMAX film, 65mm, and digital. Probably Alexa 65. He said he likes "digital IMAX"
This is why it's FILMED FOR IMAX, and not FILMED WITH IMAX.
I'm excited to see them all mix together.
Film Twitter is genuinely full of the most miserable 19 - 23 year olds who think taking a film class illuminates and ascends them beyond mere mortal thought when really all they do is LARP as old Hollywood execs and get really mad during award seasons
I understand why he’s so shaky.
I think he, like a lot of white people, didn’t anticipate how strong the response to Perfidia would be. which both backs up the fact that he meant well and also reveals the limitations in his thinking.
It’s a disservice to Michael B. Jordan and all the Best Actor nominees to continue peddling the lie that Chalamet lost because of his comments on opera and ballet. Voting had closed. Jordan deservedly won because his performance and presence garnered more enthusiasm from voters.
There was a ballet dancer in Sinners. Did we not all watch the same movie? Imagine reducing this beautiful performance to “This was a dig at Timothee.” You lot sound insane.
You just can’t convince me having Kate Hudson do a bit with Grogu is more important than giving the winners time to thank people in their speeches. Isn’t this whole thing about celebrating the arts?
Hey Oscars producers, if you have time for a lengthy Bridesmaids bit and dumb filler presenter intros, you have time to let the winners give their thanks. It’s the best part of the show. Cutting off the mic after one person speaks (esp that Golden speech) is so, so cold. #oscars
It’s always funny to think about how people put on battle armor and sling mud on behalf of awards contenders who are, meanwhile, frequently and genuinely happy for each other.
i think we need to take a moment to appreciate that Diane Warren's awful nominated song this year is from a documentary ABOUT how Diane Warren loses the Oscar for her awful nominated songs every year.
That was probably one of the better Oscars of recent memory, but they really need to sort out the speech situation. Too many times smaller artists were cut off from their moment in the spotlight. It was a real bummer. We’re here to celebrate these people.
Framing this as being a jab at him and not an acknowledgment of her contributions to the history of Black art Sinners is meant to celebrate doesn’t sit right with me at all actually.
