@SluggerOToole In the OP and in his replies to comments the voice of Claude is unmistakable. If I wanted an LLM’s take on nationalist strategy I would’ve asked one directly. Extremely poor form.
@VaerSoles@TheKoopaGuy Nope. For the majority of issuers most revenue is from interest, with interchange fees and consumer fees a distant second. There are exceptions, eg Amex targets a higher spending demographic and gouges merchants on every transaction, so they make more from interchange.
@TheKoopaGuy In my experience (US, Ireland, UK) if you pay your balance in full at the end of each month you never pay interest. It is only when you carry a balance that interest accrues.
@intentionalisms@0ttovich Thats surprising. Are you from SP or can you do a paulista accent? As a speaker of a rhotic English dialect I found BrPT surprisingly easy to learn because of how rhotic the SP dialect is
@axiochrono Reasonable people can disagree on how much of the cost should be defrayed at the point of use, but the bottom line is what it is regardless.
@axiochrono The UK is actually one of the lower per capita spenders on healthcare in the OECD. Healthcare is just that expensive, unfortunately. It’s not like schools
@leap_dog As for how the enclaves form - when people move to an area they tend to stick to the parts where they will be welcome, so the segregation is self-reinforcing
@leap_dog Better to think of them as enclaves than roads. Garvaghy Rd = Catholic enclave in Protestant Portadown. Shankill Rd = Protestant enclave in Catholic west Belfast. A Protestant road in a Protestant area is not significant and vice versa. Enclaves are where trouble usually starts.
@CathalO89340211 2) ban requires PC needs to prove public disorder will likely result. PSNI claimed no public disorder in recent years (because there has been no march!). So there’s a catch-22: in order to prove public disorder is an ongoing risk, you have to allow the march to create disorder
@CathalO89340211 1) their last 27 applications to the PC were for a full return down Garvaghy Rd = auto-rejection. This year is the first time they’ve cut their request down to a few members in silence w/ no bans. Harder for PC to claim proportionality if they ban that; clever move on OO’s part
