@Flaming_Spork At Maker Faire, a guy had hacked Asteroids to use an old analog scope as a display, which was extremely cool. I told him that it would be easy to make it work with lasers, since he'd already got the DAC stuff sorted. He said he was working on it, but then Maker Faire stopped… :(
@GroundedBlue@fermatslibrary Packing squares, not much. If one were to devise an algorithm that could do it in less than exponential time (even if the exponent were 1.0000001) would have a zillion applications!
@JohnKopisc5213@competitionplus Yep, the theoretical top speed at redline is something like 350-355, but running the motor 32% longer is 32% more time to go boom. Um, lessee… 3.5s = .0583 min, times 8500rpm, is just under 500 revs in a run, and we know what's left of the motor even then!
@adafruit I shudder to think of what it must be like to optimize by hand! Even locality-of-reference tuning, one of the easier optimizations, would be a total slog to do by hand with any nontrivial amount of code
Me: We're almost done with Gilmore Girls. :( Maybe there'll be a reboot, if @alexisbledel isn't too busy with The Handmaid's Tale.
Wife: How about a crossover?
