@ChiOnwurah We agree cities should be designed around people, not cars.
In Newcastle, we have the chance to transform Blackett & Pilgrim St to a new pedestrian quarter, giving people space to dwell, shop & enjoy the architecture. Maybe the new council administration has the political will?

[Tim Dunn @MrTimDunn]

This bullshit project from Herts County Council isn’t about connectivity: it’s about cost cutting. This crap needs to be challenged. “Trackless trams” are not trams: they’re BUSES. Bouncing bendy buses stuck halfway in traffic; and take away tracks & you take away fixed links.

So, after two years, Sunderland Station finally looks half decent (emphasis on the half)

@lf_p @Guard_Ean @HighSpeed_H @hopperelecspam There were screens on some of the initial mockups. Can't give any specific source but I'm sure I'd heard the reasoning that they were worried about passengers seeing people jump in front of the trains (no idea why that wasn't a problem with the 599s)

[North East Public Transport Users Group (NEPTUG) @NorthEastPTUG]

Will you be asking the North East what our public transport network should be called, @KiMcGuinness?
Who decided on ‘the Angel Network’?

[edificity @edificity]

@keegs_1996 I mean it was North Tyneside council who removed the Palestine kids mural, so probably them

[Sean @elseanawy]

Train driver has said it’s “socially unacceptable to block a seat with your bag” over the tannoy. I’d go to war for you man I hope you know that

[Gareth Dennis @GarethDennis]

That a metro system would be built in a northern UK city involving underground tunnels and stations is supposedly an impossible, unrealistic idea from an unserious mind.

Meanwhile, Newcastle with 13km of bored tunnels and 9 underground stations built 13 years after first plans:

You’d hope so wouldn’t you?

[edificity @edificity]

@AlecCoates1 Theoretically LEDs should have a super long lifespan so this makes no sense. I hope they find a way to keep em!

Mayor Tracy Brabin has visited Wrightbus to see new Weaver Network electric buses being built for West Yorkshire. Almost 200 buses will enter service from spring 2027 as part of the region’s move to franchised bus services, bringing services under public control.
