Born in Leith, Eduardo Paolozzi was later knighted and appointed as the Queen's Sculptor. Various Paolozzi sculptures can be seen across Edinburgh, with one of the most well-known at the top of Leith Walk.

'The Manuscript of Monte Cassino' depicts a giant bronze hand, foot and ankle - given to the city by Sir Tom Farmer in 1991. Although moved temporarily in 2017 to make room for redevelopment of the area, the three-part sculpture was returned to its original home in 2020.

Founded in 1446 by Sir William St Clair, Rosslyn Chapel sits in a beautiful setting in rural Midlothian, only seven miles from Edinburgh city centre. The chapel is known for its ornate stonework, and has attracted visitors from all over the world since its prominent role in The Da Vinci Code.

The chapel overlooks Roslin Glen, a beautiful country park and a haven for all kinds of wildlife. The River North Esk runs through the glen, stretching from the Pentland Hills all the way to the South Esk at Dalkeith Country Park.

Located on William Street in the heart of Edinburgh's West End, Rogue Flowers has established a reputation for beautiful flowers and greens since opening in 2010. Offering everything from single stems to creative and artistic bouquets, this charming shop is highly regarded for its ever-changing seasonal floral arrangements. 💐

Leith's very first Eco Bar, The False Widow Bar was established in 2024 on Constitution Street. An independent cocktail bar, it's a quirky and intimate space with a focus on sustainable and renewable suppliers. From the village of Cramond with stunning views, scenic walks and independent businesses, to the walk across to Cramond Island, there's plenty to explore here. Please remember to always check the safe crossing times before setting off and never attempt to cross through rising water - the causeway is only accessible at low tide, and can come back in very quickly. Safety messaging and guidance is visible around the village and online so you can plan ahead.

Now home to the University of Edinburgh, Alison House on Nicolson Square was once a warehouse for walking sticks, leather goods and woodenware. You can still see the original lettering across its sandstone façade today - a little piece of Edinburgh's history hidden in plain sight sometimes known as 'ghost signs' 🏛️

This Sunday, 13th September, the Riding of the Marches returns to Edinburgh. Riders from across the world will attend the event which was formed in 2008 as an annual re-enactment of the Edinburgh Riding of the Marches. Riders will enjoy exhilarating gallops through gorgeous scenery, ending with the epic finale on the Royal Mile. 🐎

All are welcome to watch, enjoy entertainments and join in with the record-breaking Royal Mile Ceilidh from 12:30, with the People's Procession beginning at 14:30.

A brand new independent cheese has opened its doors in Edinburgh - The Big Cheese. Located on Broughton Street, the shop stocks over 50 carefully selected varieties of fine cheese from around Scotland, the rest of the UK and continental Europe. 🧀

Working with trusted producers to bring customers timeless-classics, rare finds, and seasonal specialities, owner Neil Cunningham says he wants the store to be more than just a cheese shop, but also a relaxed and personal customer experience and a venue that will be part of local community life.

Raising awareness of the devastating impact of knife crime and violence, the Knife Angel sculpture has arrived in Edinburgh. On display until the 27th September, the Knife Angel stands proudly at the bottom of Leith Walk, at Kirkgate.

Created by artist Alfie Bradley and the British Ironworks Centre, it is made from around 100,000 knives and blades surrendered through police forces across the country, and stands as a powerful reminder of the impact of violence on individuals, families and communities.
