In the world of editing, many editors especially in the talking head space struggle to come up with ideas and this results in them making generic edits & the main question you have to ask yourself is ‘how much time do I spend in the storyboarding process compared to the execution?’
In sports or just before any big play offs the preparation stage is treated as very important & is always a must to partake in before execution.
Sure you can skip or rush the prep phase but you’re simply not going to perform well. This is exactly the same when it comes to editing.
So treating the storyboard phase before executing the project is a very big priority and must not be overlooked or rushed.
Otherwise your videos will come out mediocre and you won’t produce your best work.
In your next project try spend 2-3x longer in your storyboard phase and watch how your videos will transform
