The UN's special representative for sexual violence in conflict stated on Friday that Israeli state actors are now blacklisted for "continued patterns of rape and other forms of sexual violence."

Pramila Patten said the "Israel Armed and Security Forces, (...) and the Police Counterterrorism Unit" are responsible for "violations consisting of rape, including with objects, gang rape, attempted rape, physical violence to the genitals, instances of targeted shooting of the genitals, touching of breasts and genitals, strip and cavity searches conducted without apparent security justification, forced nudity, and threats of rape."

The UN could verify at least 31 cases of the above reported violations in 2025, primarily in detention settings, but also at checkpoints and during military operations. Among the victims were 14 men, seven women, nine boys, and one girl from Gaza and the West Bank.

The Israeli minister of foreign affairs called the UN's decision "shameful and absurd," despite widespread evidence of such accusations being verified. Just this week, the Israeli army discharged the military lawyer who in the autumn of 2025 had leaked footage of the Sde Teman rapes.
