@alanvaarwerk If people need extra time, building capacity -- being a bit more of a buffer, so if things happen there are more contingencies around it. So writers would sort of passively feel less stressed about the whole process. #EMF21

@alanvaarwerk I haven't necessarily practised what I preached in terms of work-life balance. It's always easier to say than do. One way of helping writers is upholding my end of the deal: making sure that I am being open rather than just not reaching out at all. #EMF21

@alanvaarwerk w @kyd_magazine we've leaned more into online writers' workshops using Teachable. Where they used to be held on half a day in Melbourne, to being something that you do in your own time. And it's something that works for the writer giving the workshops too #EMF21

@alanvaarwerk From a practical stanpoint we all kind of shifted. We discovered far too late that Slack is a thing. That was a big technological change that we made to how we communicated. #EMF21

[Is it going to last?] Danny: I feel like it really could. There is this desire for transparency. But I think for it to last, what needs to happen is for that desire for transparency to be across all lit magazines. #EMF21

Danny: [During the pandemic] At Voiceworks, what happened was we started communicating with these interstate editors every day. And we stopped pretending we were OK, and we reached out to each other. And when editors work together this way, ethics are truly fleshed out. #EMF21
