@ronmortgageguy With todays BoC not today on inflation, the one and five year GoC rate went up 10 bps and 13 bps respectively. Since the start of the month the 1yr and 5 yr have gone up by 30bps and 35bps respectively.

Another day of runaway rates. The 1 year GoC broke 3% and the five year GoC stands at 3.336%, up from 3.159% yesterday. U.S. CPI came in above expectations and the Canadian employment numbers came in way above expectations. Likely creating more interest rate hike pressure.

Huge jump in GoC rates today. 5yr yields crossed 3%. ~ 50 bps higher than they were at the peak of the last tightening cycle. Shorter-end of the curve (1yr) is approaching 3% as well. Seems like inflation concerns continue to weigh heavy on the mind of the market.

It’s going to be an interesting week. An anticipated 50 bps rate hike from the Bank of Canada, coming on the heels of GOC 5yr and 10yr yields rising by 11.4 bps and 21 bps, respectively from Monday April 4th through Friday April 8th . Best we tighten our seatbelts.

March 2022… the 5 year GoC is up 85 bps since the start of the month. 1 year GoC is up almost 65 bps. Since March 21st, the 1 year GoC is up 27 bps. Our new reality.
