Feels like there is a severe lack of political education around electoralism right now.
If electoralism is your strategy, and I understand the argument for using elections tactically , shouldn’t the point be to bring people into a larger movement? To expose and heighten contradictions, organize people, and move them toward a broader anti-imperialist politics?
Instead, it feels like the opposite is happening. People with revolutionary anti-imperialist politics are being told to temper those politics in order to defend politicians.
Even if your entire strategy is electoral, why wouldn’t you want a strong left flank pushing your politicians and their constituents further left? Why wouldn’t you want people outside electoral politics taking the uncompromising position, especially on Palestine, so that there is constant pressure on the people operating within those institutions?
The movement shouldn’t be adjusting its politics to whatever its most progressive elected officials are willing to say or do. They should be getting pushed toward us. Not the other way around. This doesn’t happen in private meetings, this happens publicly.
Electoralism can be a tactic within a larger movement. But once the movement starts disciplining its own left flank to protect an electoral project, who is actually absorbing who?
Maybe this site is just giving me a distorted picture but it feels like some very basic anti-imperialist positions are treated as unreasonable because they create problems for politicians people are invested in. If this is reflective of a broader shift in the movement, then I think we desperately need political education around electoralism.
Electoral politics should be one terrain on which a movement struggles. It should not become the ceiling of the movement’s politics.
The direction should be electoral politics moves people towards movement politics, not movement politics requiring electoral loyalty.
Americans continue to expose that they listened to Rage Against The Machine and thought the music was about rebelling against your parents instead of rebelling against imperialism

To be "pro Abolish ICE" and anti Abolish police and prisons is a fundamental misunderstanding. ICE is the fundamental conclusion of the carceral state, and without killing the roots, we will just recreate ICE under a different name. This is ideologically inconsistent for points.
This is the only time I’m speaking on this discourse but I think the problem is “be normal” is only invoked when a marginalized person is ‘annoying’ or whatever.
Kyle slurinski and aryan grim are dropping slurs and crying about anti-white racism but nobody is checking them
@myfairstarlight it’s what i’m saying, but like, what the story had been building up to was that you can find true love with a human, and that coexistence between humans and mermaids is possible. lara redefining what true love means in the last few minutes just feels so abrupt 😭🙏🏻
yes lara and mari ARE canon and yuri but why are we so afraid to be explicit about it??? that isn’t the representation queer people deserve and need in the big 2026
actually so frustrating when a series promotes itself to be yuri and/or “queer representation” but then plays it right in your face with the ending like no that’s not true representation if you can’t outright show or say it
I am already quite tired of seeing anime original series that are "totally" yuri in a very "unique" way. So unique in fact that they would never lower themselves to actually committing to the relationship they spent 11 episodes implying.
There is only one place in Puerto Rico where you can properly “scale back” and its a community rich tax dodging Americans have built behind walls & massive security gates, so far removed from the poverty, water & electricity crisis the people of the island try to survive in daily
