Skinner has a career SV% of .906, which is after the .896 he posted last season. Prior to that:
2021-22: .913 in 13 starts
2022-23: .914 in 50 starts
2023-24: .905 in 59 starts

These are great numbers. It wasn't until last year that he struggled with the .896 in 51 starts. Why do we assume, after one season, that he can't get back to the performance he had going before.

He's 27. Some due diligence and we could have a .910 goalie for the next decade.

Maybe I'll eat these words later, but the #Oilers fan base (to which I belong) makes itself look bad with all the Stuart Skinner takes. I will defend him.

Skinner had a bad season last year, granted. Bad seasons happen. Oilers still made the Cup final with the same goalie duo from the season before.

Management has been clear that they don't see another option on the market for whom to give up assets. That could change later on, but Skinner is young and has put in stretches with good numbers. Let's see it through with him until a good acquisition option becomes available or Skinner pans out.

Remember, we want Skinner to succeed. His success benefits us as Oilers fans. The screaming and freaking out won't move the needle because Oilers management has to be good at shutting out the noise in a market like Edmonton. Peter Chiarelli was not good at that, which is why he's no longer the Oilers GM.

Why are people angry about last night?
Goal 1: Off Philp
Goal 2: Arguably should've been called back (not a unique opinion)
Goal 3: Miscommunication, which is part of hockey
Skinner wasn't beaten clean by a Calgary shot until the shootout, where he held them in for eight rounds.

The moaning about Skinner just makes you look like you know nothing about hockey. If management showed your impulse, the Oilers would be a much worse team.

Maybe Skinner ultimately gets moved for someone else, but there are and always have been promising aspects about his game, so let's root for him in the hope that things go well for him in an Oilers jersey. That is a plausible outcome.

The complaining doesn't make you look like a student of the game. For your own sake, cut it out.
