Got to go to this screening and even as a previous animator at Laika I have no idea how they pulled this one off. It's insane. If you love movies, go see Wildwood.
You guys have to understand that a stop-motion animated film has never been made on THIS scale and I don’t think we will see something like this again for a long time.
Wildwood is shaping up to be an instant animated classic and I cannot wait to see it on the big screen.
LAIKA's ‘WILDWOOD’ has the largest battle sequence ever for a stop-motion film.
• Spans 12 minutes with over 400 shots
• Contains approx 3,000 characters
• 5 distinct sets were made — all combined were larger than the length of a building
• One person was specifically hired to track scarring & scratching on the lead character throughout the battle to ensure maximum detail

Wildwood is an extraordinary technical achievement, with beautifully textured, fluid animation that pushes the supposed limits of stop-motion. Its story is just as expansive, perhaps too much, but its frank honesty about the costs of war feels essential in this moment.
Just rewatched #Wildwood
In awe and tears at what was achieved here by the wonderful storytellers, animators and craftspeople at @LAIKAStudios. Those final 20 minutes are beyond stunning, up there with some of the best battle scenes ever put to film.
sometimes i need a black woman to talk to who can uniquely understand my pain. but sometimes i need an outsider with no nuance to just be like oh that’s fucked up!
I think history will be unequivocal that zionism was the worst thing that happened to judaism, allowing an ancient religion to be hijacked and replaced by a racist, genocidal ideology.
