While working towards a PhD is an incredibly fulfilling experience, it also is a long and tedious journey. If you are considering doing a PhD, especially in Germany, you may find this article on my blog helpful: https://t.co/svdJy5iaKD
It has become more and more common to publish on arXiv before peer-review. But what are the consequences of that? Information explosion! Some discussion and visualization: https://t.co/hr1rIpnLfL
Tomorrow I will (virtually) present my work at ICDM 2020. This is a new approach to mine "text outliers" from document directories -- a joint work with the Data Mining Group @ the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Prof. Jiawei Han). The talk: https://t.co/EMtUewonPe
The German government has released a series of ads for the COVID pandemic, which glorifies young people for "doing nothing" during these difficult times, simply awesome!
New preprint: SGMRD https://t.co/GldVWEg4rc.
This is an algorithm to search for "interesting" projections in data streams, leveraging multivariate dependency estimation and multi-armed bandit algorithms. Patterns (outliers, clusters, ..) are easier to detect in such projections.
Come and see the presentation of my research paper, with @jkomiyama_ and @KlemensBoehm, at #KDD2019! The talk takes place on August 8, 1:30pm (AKDT) in the track "Online and Incremental Algorithms". Meanwhile, you can check out our promotional video ;) https://t.co/TCcFqRR0ZE
@edouardfouche and @jkomiyama_ presented their poster at #KDD2019. The paper features a real-world use case from the Bioliq power plant. Stay tuned for the oral presentation tomorrow, August 8 1:30pm Alaskan time!
@edouardfouche was honoured earlier this week at SSDBM'19 with a Best Paper Award for his paper "Monte Carlo Dependency Estimation" with @KlemensBoehm: Quality work motivated by real-world ESD applications from the Bioliq power plant!
Best paper: "Monte Carlo Dependency Estimation" by Edouard Fouché and Klemens Böhm. Best paper runner up: "Maintaining Wavelet Synopses for Sliding-Window Aggregates" by Ioannis Mytilinis, Dimitrios Tsoumakos and Nectarios Koziris. Congrats to the authors! #SSDBM#ssdbm2019
I made a 3-minute video to advertise our work with @jkomiyama_ , which I will present at KDD´19 -> https://t.co/FisdmP0UZN
KDD will take place in Anchorage, early August, and there is some *best video award*, so feel free to "like" it. Thank you so much if you do!🤗
My paper "Monte Carlo Dependency Estimation" with K. Böhm has just been accepted for publication and talk at #SSDBM 2019 ! This is the first paper that I wrote as a Ph.D. student. I am looking forward to presenting it in Santa Cruz, CA ! Preprint: https://t.co/ZEhJ3DVnpI
