As long as any form of religious hate, prejudice, and violence continues to foster at any scale, all efforts and dialogues made for peace, security, and justice becomes inefficient because there exists “a constant indissoluble link between the right to peace and the freedom of religion”.

After the massacre of 51 Muslims with 89 others injured during the Jumu'ah prayer at Christchurch, New Zealand in 2019, March 15 was the day delegated by the United Nations to be the International Day to Combat Islamophobia. This was done as part of the series of efforts to combat fear, prejudice, and hatred that undeniably leads to provocation, hostility, intolerance, and becoming the first steps to violating human rights. “Wars on Terror” have reported to have reached approximately 4.7+ million Muslim deaths across the globe, these figures are a result of the continuous association of Islam and Muslims with acts of terrorism and violent extremism.

Islamophobia exists in numerous aspects and stems from a systemic and altered form of racial prejudice exhibited towards individuals, small communities, and ethnic minorities. With the existence of many Muslim minorities around the world; from the Palestinians in Gaza who are in constant threat of land loss and ethnic cleansing, to the Uyghurs whose lives are taken in concentration camps, the Rohingyas in Myanmar who suffer persecution and abuse, the oppression and exclusion of Kashmiri Muslims, the Moros who continuously fight for transitional justice and the right to self determination, and to many more Muslim communities with similar struggles, 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗜𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗖 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗩𝗜𝗢𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗕𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗡𝗘𝗗.

Constitutional and institutional rights for space, safety, and solidarity must be given and continuously upheld in schools, offices, public spaces, and especially in places of worship. Young muslims all across the globe should not fear wearing religious clothing or praying in public spaces, and they shouldn’t be discouraged from displaying or practicing their religion without the threat of openly being hate crimed or feeling prejudiced. This should extend as well in the realm of social media and online spaces where Islamophobia manifests in the form of online hate, bullying, and perpetual stigma.

REV: Music Festival condemns all forms of Islamic hate and violence and stands in solidarity with Muslims, locally and internationally, in the fight for Islamic rights and laws, inclusive and safe spaces, and genuine and just representation.

Nagkaroon din ng merch selling booth ang KATRIBU UP Diliman ng samu’t saring likhang kamay ng mga katutubo at tinapos sa isang lightning rally na pinangunahan ng Rise 4 Education upang maipahayag ang mga panawagan para sa edukasyon bilang karapatan ng mamamayan.
