The UAE fixes the school calendar three years out. I already know when Eid breaks fall in 2027. Before I moved here, I spent every spring waiting for district term dates and renegotiating leave with my employer.
@PriyankaLahiri_@AfgsDogman Twelve kilos each for double jerks is serious work. Your coach is right about the mirror. I came to kettlebells from martial arts and that hip timing feedback loop is the same. How long have you been at it?
@arny_dm Mid-40s. Martial arts six days a week in Dubai. My energy is higher than at 30, and my joints recovered once I cut processed food and left the Western office schedule behind.
@cmain7 Agreed. The Smith machine is the better choice for hypertrophy. Less systemic fatigue, safer failure. I keep the barbell in my rotation, but not for high-volume quad work.
@hispanicnomad After eight years, I do not miss the paperwork. Dubai issued my license in hours. I miss old bookshops. Never regretted it. What surprised you?
@hispanicnomad I miss old bookshops. I do not miss the jealousy or conformity. Here I live with no pretenses. Eight years on, no regrets. What surprised you most about your new base?

@CapexAndChill I have watched edtech products crash under real classroom load. Agentic speed means little if the system stalls when students show up. Benchmarks are not students. Has anyone stress-tested these chains?
Dillon's fatigue is understandable. When AI removes the hard problems, you lose the resistance that keeps you sharp. I still solve structural problems manually before using AI. What stays manual for you?
@aj_geo_analysis This cost-of-entry pattern is why I moved to Dubai. No income tax, school choice, and multiple curricula under one roof give families room to form earlier.

The Copenhagen Plank
One of the best exercises I've added to my routine over the past year.
- Improved hip stability and mobility
- Strengthened my adductors (groin)
- Reduced the groin strains I used to pick up playing football
- Bonus: hits your core and obliques too
If you're new to them, start with the easier variation and build up.
I do:
• 2 sessions per week
• 2 sets per side x 12-15 reps
• 15–30 second holds
They are worth adding to your warm-up or mobility routine
@satvikputi I train solo in martial arts here. A locked weekly schedule is the only thing that works. Guilt trips fade fast. What keeps you accountable when motivation dips?
@KingiJosh I use both grip variations. Calling this no gym is generous when you have a full rack. Frame two is where most people cheat the dead hang. That bottom stretch builds width. What are you using for thickness?
I keep seeing this in newer UAE schools. Timber, light, and open circulation shape focus just as much as curriculum choice. The building does half the work. We just do not grade it.
