Man gets arrested for standing up for his rights. Officer abused him in jail and stalked him after release.
This is the mind-blowing backstory of a civil rights battle out of Waterville, Ohio, involving local resident Mr. Walls, Patrol Officer Art Linger, and Police Chief David LaGrange. It serves as a stark reminder of why bodycams and home surveillance are the ultimate equalizers against modern tyrants.
The entire dispute began when Officer Linger encountered Mr. Walls in public and aggressively demanded that he identify himself.
Under Ohio Revised Code 2921.29 (Failure to Disclose Personal Information), you are only legally required to provide your name, address, or date of birth to law enforcement if the officer reasonably suspects you are committing, have committed, or are about to commit a crime.
Because Mr. Walls stood his ground and refused to comply with an unlawful order, Officer Linger arrested him anyway. Walls was thrown into the Lucas County Jail, where he was subjected to horrific treatment—including reportedly being forced to spend the night handcuffed with no clothes.
Once a prosecutor reviewed the case, the bad arrest fell apart, and all criminal charges against Mr. Walls were completely dropped.
Instead of backing off after the charges were dismissed, Officer Linger allegedly began a relentless, personal campaign of intimidation and harassment against the Walls family.
Unbeknownst to Linger, the family’s home Nest cameras and dashcams were capturing everything. The surveillance footage documented a disturbing pattern of behavior:
Following Mr. Walls closely while he was out riding his bicycle.
Deliberately parking his marked police cruiser directly in front of the family's home to intimidate them.
High-beaming and flashing powerful police spotlights directly into their house windows at 4:00 AM.
Stalking their residence in his personal, unmarked vehicle while completely off-duty.
When Mr. Walls’ wife went directly to the department to demand accountability, she was met with a wall of administrative protection.
Police Chief David LaGrange and Municipal Administrator James Bagdonas openly defended Linger’s actions. In an absurd twist, Chief LaGrange claimed that Mr. Walls was actually the "aggressor" who was targeting the officer on a bicycle. The department officially ruled that there was "insufficient evidence" of misconduct to sustain an internal complaint or discipline the officer.
Realizing the police department would never police itself, Mr. Walls bypassed the chain of command entirely. He took his mountain of undisputed video evidence directly to a magistrate judge.
After reviewing the footage, Judge Magistrate Gretchen F. Garanson Weston saw right through the department's excuses. The court ruled that Officer Linger's continuous tracking and predatory presence would cause any reasonable person to fear for their physical safety.
In a rare and embarrassing defeat for the department, the court officially issued a Civil Protection/Restraining Order against Officer Linger, legally banning him from harassing or coming near the Walls family.
Know your rights, record every interaction, and never let rogue officials intimidate you into compliance.

A family was at the beach for the 4th of July when this MAGA guy threw his trash on the sand so they asked nicely if he could pick it up & he started calling them slurs like the N & R words. He told them to go back to their Country even though they’re born here & assaulted them.
https://t.co/du9bv2U4pY confirms: if masked men who refuse to identify themselves are putting a mother and child into unmarked cars, it is absolutely your business.
You have a First Amendment right to film ICE, or anyone else in public from a safe distance, as long as you do not interfere.
Help get PAXIS into the hands of immigrants and allies. Fight ICE with the law, and the constitution: https://t.co/ZhHJH8FyNd
URGENTE.
🚨BREAKING: An ICE agent was just caught on video violently shoving a TEENAGER to the ground, in a Chicago suburb.
But it gets worse…
In Joliet, IL, ICE agents jumped out of their cars, racially profiled a man, began handcuffing him, and forced him into an unmarked vehicle that had its license plate covered.
And they did all of this before even confirming who he was.
As U.S. citizens began recording the incident, ICE agents started forcing them farther back, even though they were not interfering with the arrest.
One of the agents looked at a teenager, who was just standing there and filming, and said, “Step back a little bit.”
The teenager wasn’t interfering. In fact, a woman was standing even closer.
And then, without warning, the ICE agent violently shoved the teenager to the ground.
Moments later, another ICE agent pulled out a taser and threatened the legal observers, despite them remaining away from the vehicle, and not interfering.
And after all of that, about 20 minutes later…
ICE released the man they had kidnapped because they realized he was not undocumented.
Think about how insane that is…
A man was detained, handcuffed, and taken away before ICE even confirmed they had the right person.
That’s exactly why the Fourth Amendment exists… to protect people from unreasonable seizures by the government.
And then there is the issue of an ICE agent shoving a teenager to the ground…
Using significant physical force against someone, especially a teenager, who is not posing an immediate threat, not resisting, and not interfering… is excessive force.
Federal agents do not get a free pass to assault teenagers because they are standing nearby.
The First Amendment protects the right to record law enforcement in public, and government officials cannot use intimidation, or force, to silence people who are lawfully documenting their actions.
This wasn’t just about one man being kidnapped…. It was about everyone standing there.
A teenager was thrown to the ground.
Legal observers were threatened.
U.S. citizens exercising their constitutional rights were intimidated.
And an innocent man lost 20 minutes of his freedom because ICE believes they are allowed to kidnap anyone they want.
So, why are these ICE agents not being held accountable?
Sorry American soccer fans, but after listening to this demented pile of orange shit openly brag about his FIFA corruption, I hope Belgium beats the living shit out of Team USA tonight. Trump has singlehandedly turned millions of us into Belgium fans. 🇧🇪
A black woman was asking people if they were registered to vote when this crazy white racist walked up spewing racial slurs & hateful bs in her personal space so she started to film her later than she should have & the woman chilled some, but wouldn’t leave for for over 30 minutes
🚨 Racist calls a black biker the N-word then runs away like a coward 😂
The racist in the blue shirt calls man N-Word, gets called out, and immediately runs across the park like a coward.
This is the exact pattern with these racist big talk with slurs and only feel tough when they think no one will push back, then they tuck tail and run.
