@NikolaosNtirlis AI is nowadays something like Fritz 2: people tend to overrate it.
But after around 20 years you will probably have some inhuman super trainer, which of course will be incredibly good for your chess, incredibly bad for humanity
@Naisortep Karpov, Topalov and Alekhine are underrated because politics.
Tal is underrated because he did not quit in 1960.
Smyslov is underrated too because he was WC just one year, but he was stronger than Botvinnik.
Kramnik and Anand were never clear number 1, they cannot be on top10
@mazuagah@NorwayChess Impresentable.
@GMAlexColovic Well, Smyslov dominated the 50s, just he could not choose to play Bogoljubov. Spassky 60s was also impressive, but he lost his first match with Petrosian. Being WC and dominating was easier before 1948
@EmilSutovsky I think it is an interesting version of chess for playing, I enjoy it. Alas, not very interesting for watching. I almost don't follow this tournament at all. My impression is that I don't learn much from them watching their 960 games
@chedimir@PS_TRUDODYR@2700chess Chess was different back then. Games were adjourned, for example.
Some people overrate past players, while others overrate today's players. It took Kasparov ten years at the top level to reach that goal, and Karpov never reached it, so logically, I would say, it was harder then
@PS_TRUDODYR@2700chess The point is not 2800 or 2900, but how many points you are ahead the others. Nearer they are, more points you earn winning against them, easier task the achiviement is. According to that, I think 2800 in 1990 (10th 2625) would be 2925 now (10th around 2750)
